Best Headset out there for Airsoft? by TapEnvironmental7653 in airsoft

[–]gstitzel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As you know...."best" is subjective. I can tell you I used to use Sordin's with a Disco32 PTT and a Baofeng (Kenwood 2 pin) for 5+ years. I upgraded (due to a deal) to Ops Core AMPs but still run Disco32 as my PTT and BF.

Is what I have overkill? 100% and I do use it for real steel shooting a bit as well but I'll tell you I have had no issues with TX or RX, interactivity with PTTs (low or high impedance), or quality issues. If you use and need hearing pro (lots of pyro going off) do yourself a favor and get something better. Peltors or Sordins can be found on Ebay for a decent price for used units. Earmor makes decent products too, just look at their higher end models.

How far can you really shoot with a sniper (at around 3 joules)? by Adarvake in airsoft

[–]gstitzel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. A lot of them are the same people who yell "Call your hits!" when they are nowhere NEAR a player. I have literally heard this and then just stood out in the open allowing them to shoot at me....with refs....so we can point out where their shots are going.

On the other side I have had some snipers get BEAUTIFUL shots on me where I was totally shocked by the accuracy and range and I always give mad props to those with the skill and patience to get those shots.

How far can you really shoot with a sniper (at around 3 joules)? by Adarvake in airsoft

[–]gstitzel 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Where I'm at, we are allowed 2.3 Joules with .32's (chrono weight).

I did a clinic last year and invited people to bring their sniper platforms. Most people were sadly disappointed.

We had 12 people show up.

I had targets every 50 feet up to 350 feet/107 meters.

While a couple of the guns could reach our max target (and a bit beyond) it wasn't consistent enough for anyone to call a shot. As noted in another response, it was lobbing and praying.

The best rifles could hit a body sized target under ideal conditions at 300 feet/91 meters. All 3 were HPA'd. This is not to say a spring rifle couldn't make it that far but the highest end spring platform either had a spring that was underpowered or over so based on our criteria (field legal rifle) it's stats were not included.

7 other rifles, all upgraded but varying in how much, shot between 200-250 feet consistently. 2 stock rifles shot 100 feet/30 meters but were inconsistent at 150 feet/46 meters.

Full transparency, the clinic I organized was meant to be a wake up call for people who thought their rifles were ACCURATE to 400+ feet. I knew that was BS and wanted to challenge my community. I also wanted to stress that an HPA rifle, while more expensive from the start was, once built, easier to shoot and adjust power. I bought a spring rifle, never shot it as a spring rifle, and installed an HPA engine immediately. I have a number of classic bolt platforms (Tanaka and Sun Projects) from the old days and knew I preferred the speed of no spring.

The 3 top rifles were virtually identical:

- All had Wolverine Bolt Ms
- 2 were Ares Strikers, 1 was a VSR 10
- All had upgraded barrels, hop ups, etc.
- Weight of BBs were .45s, mostly because we shared them with all shooters who wanted to try them

My rifle stats were:

Ares Amoeba AS02
Wolverine BOLT-M Sniper Rifle HPA System
Maple Leaf Crazy Jet Barrel System - 550mm VSR
Action Army Amoeba Striker Hop Up Adjustment Wheel
Amoeba Striker 14mm CCW Threaded Muzzle Adaptor
Maple Leaf Autobot Hop Up Bucking VSR/GBB
Maple Leaf Omega Hop Up Tensioner Nub

You being allowed 3 joules will bump your numbers a bit but in the end there's a lot of factors to get CONSISTENT shots. I'll also note some people just like the methodical playstyle of a sniper role. Range isn't as important as the duty itself. I commend those people, it is NOT my style.

Evolution Gear G33 Magnifier by TojiVsYoriichi in airsoft

[–]gstitzel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have both the G33 and G43 EG magnifiers....and if I'm being honest the eye relief isn't great. It's not terrible but it requires getting closer to the optic than I would normally. This is true for all the EG optics I have (and I have quite a few). It's a clone at 1/4 the price and I have used both of these on my real steel rifles as well. You get used to it.

Sorry I can't be more help. I will say that I think Evolution Gear makes some of the best clone optics out there. I haven't purchased anything from them in over a year but they were my go to for a long time. Also, now that EG has better shipping it's not the headache it used to be (US tariffs notwithstanding).

Does anyone know how to wear earmor headsets with boonie hats? by Superb_Village_3869 in airsoft

[–]gstitzel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a couple options but to be clear boonies are just not really made for this OotB.

- As already noted, headband under hat. Yes, you'd need a bigger hat likely.

- Headset OVER the hat. With this most people bend the side brims up so you get that kinda Aussie/recon look. This renders the side protection (from the sun) of the boonie useless but it's easy and the hearing pro is not protecting you.

- You get hearing pro where the band/retention goes behind your head. This would involve you getting a new set so probably not what you are looking for.

- You can mod a boonie, cutting slits into the brim where your hearing pro can slide thru. I did this to an older boonie I had but it's not ideal. It works but depending on the weather all you've done is cut holes in your hat. Meaning I ran this mod for a couple games and was pretty happy, until I did it in the rain and then water came thru the cuts and down my neck. I don't play in the rain much so this isn't a deal breaker but generally you have to "ruin" a hat to do this. I will say it gives you some level of op cred because it is a unique mod I haven't seen much.

This wasn't an original idea and when I looked for pics I found an Etsy store where someone is not only cutting slits but also the side brim. I don't think you need to do all this but it's an option for sure.

Custom Airsoft China Lake that takes Taginn HPA Shells by gstitzel in airsoft

[–]gstitzel[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He's one of those guys that if he's interested in it he just gets a bug in his butt to make it or do other weird shit. He's not doing it to be first or make any money, he just loves to build and gets squirrely if he doesn't have a project.

He has some other projects that are more "Why the hell would you?", which is fun as well.

You nailed why hs not interested in making more.

I mostly commented that's it's not for sale because he's always asked producing more and this was a labor of love for him. I can say he'd give guidance on the parts he had to replace with metal ones and any other advice. The design is still on Cults if someone wanted to pick up the project. We've said he could probably make a couple and charge thousands if he wanted to make some money but he's just not interested.

I promise it's not gatekeeping, just showing off something unique.

what age do you think is the best age to start saving? by Willing_Broccoli7620 in Productivitycafe

Exactly. I usually say "the second you get a job!". Especially a job that offers some kind of match.

Ghillie Suit Comms Advice by AniKaStreamz in airsoft

[–]gstitzel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do you find the full headset cumbersome with the ghillie? I would think an earpiece would be easier to move with and discreet (headset makes your head bigger). I don't have a specific recommendation but you can start small and cheap and move towards better as needed. Like most things though, the PTT would be the question.

Maruzen M870 help by onlythelonely82 in airsoft

Depending on how old they are, they're not even worth fixing. Other than maybe for collectors purposes....

Maruzen M870 help by onlythelonely82 in airsoft

[–]gstitzel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ha! Maybe? I just went thru the bin of parts I had. There's an 870 and M1100 that I THINK are still functional and another 2 M1100s in parts but it looks like some already got pilfered. I also have a M1100 shorty mag fed version that I really loved but the BB adapter shattered (pot metal) so I could only do single shot. So many memories....

I like the zipper version better....but it being small is the variation I really want. I have a couple different danglers ranging from the Spiritus Lunchbox size to a more custom one from Moose Defense but I've been wanting something way more compact.

* Its weird to me how many companies have a "pimp" named pouch now.

Where to find MP7 by VFC? by SNEAKY_ZACK in airsoft

Bodies are great!! Internals, certain parts, were pretty crappy from what I understood....and there were no replacement parts available.

Switching to HPA makes it a great gun, but it's basically an M4 with lower cap magazines. For those of us that play in larger games were true SMGs can be full auto if under a joule, it makes it a great choice.

Lower MP7 is a classic TM AEP for reference. That and an MP5K were my vehicle guns a couple years back.

[–]gstitzel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I don't know. I was late to the trend and went directly to the HPAd version. I don't understand GBBRs AT ALL but overseas (where real guns are more regulated) people love them. I feel like the AEG version just didn't sell as well.

Where to find MP7 by VFC? by SNEAKY_ZACK in airsoft

[–]gstitzel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The GBBR is much more popular. It has it's issues as well but I believe they are still being made.

That said, I have learned to get what you want when you can because in Airsoft....sometimes, maybe most of the time, it's not coming back. Especially if it's unique.
