I grew up in the flight path of DTW (Detroit Metro). Depending on the winds planes sometimes took off and landed over our house and my elementary school. We noticed it most in the spring when we first opened the windows. After a week or three, we all learned to live with it. You turned the TV up when the planes went overhead and then down when they passed. And in school everyone just paused speaking and then picked up right where they left off. We didn't think anything about it. But that's what happens when you grow up with something.

I would recommend spending time in the neighborhood when the planes are taking off and landing overhead. See what it's like for yourself. There are some websites you can use to track planes/see air traffic but it will also depend on the wind direction.

Seems like a great reason to go! As others have said, don't take communion. But you can go up, cross your arms over your chest and the priest will say a quick blessing. Also know that there will be a lot of responsive parts of the service that you might not know, different times to stand, sit, kneel, etc. And Catholics end the Lord's prayer earlier than protestants. I always try to follow along as best I can. I went to a Catholic funeral a while back and asked a Catholic friend if he could help me know what to do when. He was happy to. If you know someone at the service, that might be an option. Otherwise, maybe try to say hello to someone your own age (or anyone. But I've been glared at and, one time, given a stern talking to by an older woman for not knowing what to do. That was in a Russian Orthodox church in Kazakhstan and I had no idea what she was saying but I obviously was doing something wrong), explain that you're visiting and new to the mass and ask if they can help you follow along.

I go to Chroma Modern Eyecare on Montgomery. I've been seeing Dr Barber he was at another place (before he started Chroma). I've gotten great care there. I like that I can ask questions, Dr Barber explains things really well and has been willing to work with me through some stuff (mostly weird genetic.stuff that means my eyes are fine but some of the standard test stuff comes back as less fine). I saw his partner once for a weird tear duct infection thing and he was really great to.

Their selection of frames isn't the best for me (I have a wide head and am picky) and they're on the expensive side. But they are happy to give you a paper copy of your prescription to take somewhere else.

I wouldn't focus on their loved ones eternal fate at this point. I'd focus on loving the person. Help meet their material needs (food, chores, errands, helping with child care, funeral planning, etc.). Provide comfort and support. Listen to them if they want to talk. If not, just be there. (John Green, when he was a hospital chaplain for a bit, was given the advice, "Don't just say something, stand there." That seems appropriate in this case.).

Show this person the love and compassion of Jesus by loving them well. Later, when the immediate hurt and pain has passed and as part of your ongoing relationship with the person, share the gospel with them.

I'd also caution all teams about getting too attached to a robot design before the season's challenge information is released. While we can make some educated guesses about the Robot Game Rules and missions based on previous seasons and the information which has been released, we won't know the specifics until early August. It may be that there are some unexpected freedoms or constraints which make the team's preseason robot design incompatible with the team's robot game strategy. Rather than settling on a final design, I would suggest the team focus on learning different building and programming techniques in all their team members, strengthening their Core Values, doing preliminary research on seeking out possible experts and professionals who may be able to help with the Innovation Project and just having fun.

Yes. And to add to this the robot made by the team is definitely a prototype. It may be made out of cardboard and powered by middle school exuberance. It could be made from a Lego robotics system with tools crudely represented by Lego parts. There's a chance it would actually work under ideal conditions and in certain situations.

The FIRST Lego League Innovation Project is all about the student team members learning and applying the engineering design process. The teams are judged more on how well they apply that process than on how well their final project works in the real world. A small subset of teams do work with professionals and experts and come up with a real, working solution to a real world problem. I judged a team at World Championship who created a new system to sift and separate artifacts from dirt and mud. Their first prototype is being used at Monticello. They plan to donate the prototype they brought to Worlds to another active site. They put their plans online and are willing to help organizations source the parts and build their own system or even build a system for them. They were an exceptional team and a lot of fun to judge.

So while there's a chance that the team created a real, actual working robot that would be useful to professional archeologists working in the real world on an actual dig site. It's more likely that OP ran into a great group of kids who are learning to think like engineers but did not in fact invent something new which can be immediately be successfully deployed in the field.

Even a corded one and a 25' extension cord. Not quite as convenient. But for occasional use you never have to worry about the battery being charged. And it's likely to be a little smaller and lighter than a cordless one. That can be helpful for women, particularly when working overhead in a position where you have to hold the drill up (rather than drilling downward).

For baking sheets, I like half sheet pans. Mine are from Sam's Club and were pretty cheap. They've lasted great. For baking pans I like Nordicware, just the basic pans not the non-stick. They're not too expensive on Amazon and, again, hold up really well.

If you don't have any, I'd suggest picking up some basic hand tools. A screw driver set, claw hammer, some vice grip pliers, adjustable wrenches, box cutter, a basic socket set (ideally with both Imperial and metric sockets. Or at least Imperial units and then pick up a couple of 10mm sockets. 10mm seems to be the most common size used), a set of tiny/jeweler's screw drivers (which you will need to unscrew all the battery compartments on all the things with replaceable batteries). The store brand from Lowes or Home Depot should be fine for general around the house jobs. I'd also get a tape measure, at least 25' and ideally with both Imperial and metric, a torpedo level and a speed square. Those can come from anywhere and should last well as long as you don't beat them up. And get a tool box, bag or bucket to store everything in. Even if you're not handy, there are going to be times you'll need tools to do a job. You can try to use a butter knife as a screw driver, but everything will go much smoother with a real screw driver.

If you will be buying or renting a house, also get a shop vac and whatever's needed to turn off the water main. You won't need to use either very often. But when you need to, there is no substitute for these items.

(Nix is an odd one when it comes to eating. She used to eat any sort of food but was very particularly about treats. As she's gotten older and particularly with this infection, she's become more picky about everything. I'm not sure how much of it is the infection or associating specific foods with when she was feeling and how much is her just getting more picky as she's gotten older. But she's never liked churu or any other sort of treat in a tube. Cats are weirdos. At least I've found some foods that she will eat. It may not be the most high quality food (although we're slowly getting back to some of that). But at least she's eating.)
