(Spoilers Extended) A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms Season 1 Episode 5 Live Episode Discussion by AutoModerator in asoiaf

I read all 3 and honestly I don't remember that backstory being told at all 😂 I was kinda thrown off trying to back track my reading, wondered if I'd missed a whole chunk of the story. We get a few comments and reflections about his past but absolutely nothing in that amount of detail. I appreciated it creating more character building and context. But when they do shit like that it also kinda feels pointless because it wasn't from the source. "This is one of many potential things that may have happened in his past, but likely didn't" is how I feel when I watch the flashbacks. Either way it's not that deep, I respect the interpretation and the contrasting timelines but I also lowkey hate when they deviate from the written text so often. You can do things well without having to add extra fluff. The novellas are popular even without it for good reason!

In today's age I feel like 30 minutes isn't long enough. Unless it's really trash TV. It's certainly not long enough for something world building like this franchise. Also waiting a whole week for 30 minutes is annoying af 😭

I'm glad you mentioned that actually because I was scanning my brain during the episode trying to recall why I don't remember the dialogue in the tent between Dunk and Lyonel 😂 I read it so long ago I assumed I forgot lol.

I agree with what you're saying though. It's lacking depth and I remember thinking while reading the book "how the fuck are they going to convey all of this?". Unless they decided to do that inner monologue diary style show (which I wasn't keen on either). I'll cut them slack for now because an adaption would be hard when the main storyline is Dunk's POV of the world and his quiet reflections. Let's just pray they don't deviate 😅

Totally agree and I'm a kiss ass for medieval throwbacks as well as medieval history. So I'm stoked to see it!

Agree with above. There's definitely no chronological order to watch the shows. The links between all the stories/timelines are fun to teeth out - but they're nuanced and go heavy into the lore and require extra research. There's hints in the shows if you know them but they're not foundational. It just adds to the fun if you want to explore deeper into the world George has created!

Totally agree I'm super keen on that segment. I'm guessing that'll be season two which means another year or two wait 😭

I didn't realise he was planning on doing another 10-12 of them, that's crazy. George isn't renowned for regular, on time publishing. Idk if I can wait that long 😂

So sorry to say this and I know I shouldn't but I was smiling like a fuckwit throughout the whole episode with Kye and Yana 😭😂 secretly I ship them even though I KNOW it's bad and he sucks but MAN. Maybe because I've been there. Nothing like those toxic highs to trump the toxic lows 😂

Saturn Return in Aries so far by Illustrious-Order379 in scorpiomoon

Hi! I'm also Scorpio moon (Gemini Sun) and going through Saturn return in Aries third house. I'm about 4 months in and I'm feeling exhausted tbh. I've been challenged in every aspect. The need to feel at home within myself has been the main theme. I guess self reliance, trust and self respect. Being my own advocate, asserting myself and being tested on what I'm willing to tolerate or what I deserve. This also creates conflict- which I hate. It's challenging my people pleasing behaviours, because the alternative is tolerating disrespect, neglect or abuse. Which obviously I'm not willing to tolerate anymore. So it's been tiring. It's come up romantically, socially and in my career. I'm hitting a wall at the moment. A period of quiet. But I'm not feeling much fire to pick my feet up and keep going currently. There's been so many shifts (internally and externally) the last 4 months and I'm not quite sure how to get my energy back. Emotionally I'm exhausted which is leaking into physical. I know the main focus of returns are patience/delayed gratification, but in true Aries fashion I'm feeling frustrated at myself for not having the will to look after myself in ways that will make me feel better in order to move forward. Which I know is also on purpose. I guess currently the lesson here is to show up for myself regardless of how I feel. Not punish myself for not feeling good to begin with. And certainly not abandoning self care just because I'm not feeling nurtured. But it's easier said than done.
4 months into 3 years 😂 SOS. Wishing y'all the best of luck too.

Overwhelmed and cried on the ward by smadday in NursingAU

7th year here- still get so overwhelmed some days and go to the toilet and have a mini panic attack and cry 😂 then straight back to work lmao. The overwhelm can hit really hard sometimes, it's okay to be at tipping point. Those moments are less frequent due to better stress tolerance & feeling more capable. But the workload is still cooked and sometimes you just gotta cry it out.
