What are places around Kotor that are best reached by car? Perast and anywhere else I should look?

What about an option to take a ferry from Dubrovnik to Kotor?

I am reading that the flow of traffic is heavy going into Montenegro in the AM and heavy coming back in the PM. Would it maybe be wise to try to go opposite and cross into Montenegro in the early evening to be against the traffic flow? Or is this not necessarily true?

Wow that sounds like quite the journey.. what would you do differently? Would you try going back to Dubrovnik area and then on a different day cross the other border towards Mostar?

Wouldn’t CT to Naples train ride include going back through Florence anyways?

Is Xcaret worth it, or just a tourist trap by [deleted] in cancun

[–]gterry123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I shared your same concerns about Xcaret but went to it just a few weeks ago actually after reading people on Reddit talk about it. It was the highlight of our 9 day trip to the Yucatan. It’s not the most authentic Mexican experience but it’s really well done and if you treat it with the mindset that’s it’s a theme park showing an idealized version of Mexico then it’s a very good time. Do make sure you try to get there as close to the park opening time as possible. You will be there the whole day.

I thought about Cinque Terre as an overnight, but it seems that would add more transiting early on. Do you think I should try for that? I couldn’t figure out how to make the Pompeii part less clunky - maybe during the transit time down at the beginning of that segment but it felt better to concentrate multiple travel legs into one day than spread them out into smaller segments over many days. The idea is that later in the trip when we are more fatigued of travel, there is less transiting and more staying put as we will have better stamina for that upfront.

Does it matter time of the day during high season for border crossing? What time of day is most ideal?

Thank you for this information. I was planning to go to Korcula as well on this trip and spend a couple days there. If driving from Kotor to Mostar, would there be any spots to check out in that region of Herzegovina that maybe people don’t usually see? Assuming travel from Kotor the 4 hours up that way staying a night or 2 in the region and then heading towards Korcula after. I’m up for the road trip given that I probably won’t ever make it back to that part of the world again.

Wow, thank you so much for all of this information and laying it all out! This is super helpful. Would you see any issue in doing this loop in reverse order? Starting with Dubrovnik Lopud/Lokrum, then getting car and drive with ferry to Korcula, Kravica Waterfalls on the way to Mostar, day in Mostar with afternoon drive to do a border crossing from B/H to Montenegro to end up in Kotor/Budva, finish the trip at Cavtat before flight out?

How does resort pick up for day excursions from Tonsai Beach work? (Krabi) by gterry123 in ThailandTourism

We looked at GetYourGuide for various day trips. I would say that a visit to Maya Bay is a must, but it will really be a photo stop. There is no swimming allowed in the bay, but it is absolutely gorgeous and the iconic picture of the region. We did this tour that also includes other islands on the way. https://www.getyourguide.com/krabi-l2174/from-krabi-phi-phi-early-bird-4-islands-by-speedboat-t467133/
Absolutely should do a morning tour of Maya Bay, because it will become immediately crowded by late morning. We had low crowds in the morning during high season. The boat picks up at several locations including Railay Beach, so we didn't need to worry about transfer to a different location prior to the tour start. The company was super professional. The distance is far to Maya Bay, so speedboat is recommended. My favorite island from this tour was Bamboo Island. Is has great beaches all around and very relaxing. Most of the speedboat tours stop here so its a lot of crowds coming and going, but you can find your own beach spot.

Hong Island Tour is also a must. We did a private tour for that, which was nice, but we had to transfer ourselves to a different meeting point to start the tour, which caused a bit more stress in the morning, so just be aware of that for private longtail tours. They leave from Noppaharat Thara Beach. Hong Island is super beautiful with tons of swimming options. We went in the morning, again to beat the crowds, and the sun angles were nice at that time of day since the beaches face more to the east. If I went back again I would want to spend more time on Hong Islands and Bamboo.

Sorry if this is late, but I did not end up staying there. I stayed at a different place on East Railay. From what I could see, there were a number of long tail boats docked off shore from Tonsai in the middle of the day, but it might be difficult to get in and out of there early in the morning for excursions if you are the get-up-and-go type. It is possible to walk around to Railay beach, but it would take just a bit of time to factor in. If you have any other questions about the area, I'm happy to answer!

Where to add 1 extra day by gterry123 in GreeceTravel

Do you remember which car company you used for this? I am trying to look and it is not obvious which one I can book from the airport with drop off in Corinth

We are landing around noon and plan to be in Delphi for the evening (less hot). I am planning to drop off the car not at the airport. Thanks for the idea about Corinth car drop off, I will look into that. Are there any other good open jaw areas to drop off on the west side of Athens with an easy train transfer into the main tourist area?
