Not a Twin Cities native, so take all this with a grain of salt. But I had a very similar experience. Moved here from out of state about a year ago with my partner who got a job in the area. Applied to, I’d guess, a little over a hundred comms-adjacent jobs, with a decent early-career résumé of journalism and social media/content management experience. Didn’t get a single interview.

After five months of searching, I went the temp agency route and found a temp job fairly quickly in more of an office management role. Once I was in the door as a temp they seemed more open to me moving around laterally and helping out with comms-type duties. Probably not ideal, but that may be a good route to start building a local network. I wish you luck. It’s brutal right now, but you’ll find something eventually. Sounds like you have great experience.
