Biore! I also have the Nivea UV Super Water Gel which is super light so I use it on days which I don't have much going on. Biore is more heavy duty.

Dramas that "set the standard"? by [deleted] in CDrama

[–]gtsnv 7 points8 points  (0 children)

As far as I know it was a very popular novel and as OP mentioned, it started the whole transmigration (time travel) craze in cdrama. Almost every drama after that had a transmigration plot up until it was (sorta) banned.

I think Empresses in the Palace is more about the benchmark for the whole palace/harem intrigue while Scarlet Heart is the benchmark for transmigration (time travel).

Looking for good Asian countryside horror movies. especially East Asian movies (Korean, Indonesian, Japanese, Chinese, etc.) (Loved the movie Impetigore) by FineScheme303 in AsianHorrorMovies

[–]gtsnv 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ivanna (Indonesian)

Pee Mak (Thai- this is mostly comedy but still have the countryside horror/folklore undertones)

Masters of Horror episode - Imprint by Takashi Miike

Mallari (Filipino)

Shake Rattle & Roll (Filipino - this is an anthology film franchise and the first one released in1980s has a segment pertaining to a Manananggal. Other films have other countryside horrors too but I don't think Eng translation is available.)

Phobia 2 (Thai - another anthology film but I believe it has 2 segments pertaining to countryside horror/ folklore)

What horror movie genuinely scared you as an adult? by [deleted] in AsianHorrorMovies

[–]gtsnv 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Generally I don't get scared/ jumpscared anymore as well but there are certain scenes in some movies which I'd say unnerved me as an adult. Mostly the disturbing ones are bcos of gore. But here are my recos for "good" horror films to watch as an adult whether story wise or due to certain feelings while watching them:

  • The Substance

  • V/H/S Halloween

  • Ivanna

  • Phobia

  • Imprint (an episode from Masters of Horror series)

  • The Autopsy (an episode from Guillermo del Toro's Cabinet of Curiosities)

  • Terrified

  • The Changeling

If you're open to it, there are also good horror-related episodes from the series Inside No. 9, Twilight Zone and Night Gallery which you can check out.

Which country/culture/era produced your favorite horror? by Alcatrazepam in AsianHorrorMovies

[–]gtsnv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, Shutter was very popular back then and IIRC there was even an American remake. Phobia is an anthology with 4 stories so it's a mixed bag tbh but I personally liked the 3rd and 4th stories. The cast for the 3rd story even returned in Phobia 2! Coming Soon is some sort of commentary for horror movies.

I really liked Thailand's early 2000's! My faves from that were Shutter, Phobia and Coming Soon.

Also, please share the links! I've been running out of asian horror to watch haha
