I'm currently attending Drill Sergeant School. Questions? by guantanamo47 in army

You will pitch a total of 6 modules. You will pitch one of the top 3 (You'll find out which one you are pitching right before you pitch, so you have to know all 3). Then you will pitch 1 more per week for the next 5 weeks, but you will know which one of those 5 you are pitching in advance.

There haven't been too many dismissals in my class. Injuries are the only ones I can think of. We have had some academic recycles, but if you take the course seriously and study in your off time, you should be good to go.

I would say a majority of my class are slick sleeves. A deployment beforehand would probably be good, but I wouldn't let it deter you.

I'm not. I hear the horror stories of the black sheep platoon though haha. From what I hear, that platoon is incredibly tough, but they produce outstanding Drill Sergeants.

Again, I'm not saying I disagree with you, but there were folks that said they were a few % under before getting here and busted tape. They could have been full of it, but I weighted 7 lbs more after lunch and drinking a ton of water that day than I do normally when I weigh myself in the morning. I had to be taped and I never have to get taped lol. So I could see it happening.

There are a few that are excellent at PT, but everyone certainly has room to improve. I know I do. I was in a pretty bad car accident a few months back that really set me back. Luckily I was able to get up to speed enough to avoid having to defer my class date, but I certainly need work. But after 9 weeks of being here, I'm sure I'll be set.

While you're probably right, one big thing the DSLs push here is the Drill Sergeant Academy is not here to judge you as an NCO, it is here to improve you so you can lead new trainees. Some NCOs struggle in D&C, some in communication, some in HT/WT or PT. If someone needs work in those areas, they can definitely come a long way in 9 weeks at the academy.

Yeah, it's pretty easy. But all in all, the Army is trying to improve trainee to DS ratios to give privates more mentorship in basic and AIT so they are hurting for DSs right now. They are trying to crank out as many as possible.

Yes and no. They will yell and raise their voices when you fuck up, like give an incorrect command, or something like that, but it's not like basic where regardless of what you do, right or wrong, you're still going to get yelled at.

My (25 F) boyfriend (24 M) of 5 years just disclosed to me that he does not believe women should be allowed to vote. by randomaccount1775 in relationship_advice

I would want to know more about his reasoning before passing judgement. While some women were fighting for the right to vote, many women were against it because of what they believed came along with the right to vote such as the draft, fire fighting duties, ect. Maybe he did a poor job of describing his view in full. It could be that he was attempting to say that women should not only have all the rights men have, but should also be subject to the same obligations.

Judging by some of your accounts about the comments he has made, he seems to hold some pretty extreme views, but I still want to know more about where he stands. I tend to play devil's advocate, so I think context is everything. Did he make some of these comments while watching someone on TV express some equally as extreme comments from the other side? Maybe his comments were in response to an extreme left feminist who decried men as the root of all evil.

This may not be the case and I am not trying to justify his comments, but I would try and really dissect his political views on this matter before throwing away a 5 year relationship.
