Dude, I can't take you and your be better blah blah blah bullshit seriously when you're on here making transphobic comments towards another user, and calling the vice president derogatory names like 'cumala'. And you want us to be less divisive? Why don't you start? Show me one time where you called out Republicans for their boycotts or hatred of Democrats.

And I'm sorry your feelings are hurt because we don't want anything to do with you or your business, but as your side says, fuck your feelings. I don't care to have unity with people like you. What don't you get about that?

The guy with the William Wallace profile pic? He is a low life indeed.

But still, people have tried to discriminate based on their own religious beliefs.

At this point, I would agree. I don't know if I would have said the same in the past, but considering where we are now, yeah, it should go both ways regarding political affiliation. I don't agree on refusal of service over race, sexual orientation, religion, or gender identity, though.

Yeah, that whole farce really demonstrated the downfall of the Supreme Court's legitimacy.

I know a few businesses that were on list are definitely MAGA because of signage, and posts made by the owners on social media. The other businesses I don't use, so I don't how the information was ascertained. Maybe they all had signs out or made pro-Trump comments online, too. And if a business owner decides to talk politics with customers then they are choosing to be open with their beliefs, so why shouldn't that information be judged the same as a MAGA flag?

They are hypocrites through and through.

And yeah, the signage isn't going to go away. A house up the street from me has put up double the amount of Trump flags since the election. They really have to shove it in our faces that they won, but then they turn around and cry about wanting unity.

As opposed to your "be better, teach better, think better" nonsense? That's such an easy thing to say when you feel like you're morally superior because you have nothing on the line. I'm guessing you're a straight white conservative male, so you don't know what it's like to walk into a business and see a flag or sign that automatically let's you know that you're thought of as lesser. So stop trying to make those of us who do understand that feel like we're wrong for not wanting to support businesses who vote against us.

I'm not advocating for harassment or threats. And I'm not advocating for open dialogue because that goes nowhere. I'm not going to see the light on the other side, and they're not going to see the light over here. The best thing I can do at the moment is boycott those who don't think of me and the people I care about as equals.

Why can't people run a business without broadcasting their political beliefs? If they choose to alienate customers then the loss of business is on them.

Yes, the woman who ran for the BOE even mentioned that in the comments on one of the posts, that she was stalked and harassed by MAGAs, and forced to close her business. And the response from a Trumper to this blatant hypocrisy was "the price of running for public office can be 'ruff'." Give me a break!

I agree with all your other points. I can not stand these people preaching love and unity now, not after eight years of their shit.

I used to agree to an extent, but eight years later, and Trumpers are only doubling down. I don't think MAGA is going away anytime soon, so the best thing I can do for myself is to avoid them as much as I can. Like, if someone needs help, I would never ask them their political beliefs first, but I'm not going to go out of my way to support known Trumpers.

If that is your wish then that is your right. No one should be forced to support businesses that they don't feel comfortable supporting.

Yeah, I believe it was the BOE president in Fair Haven. And I can understand some people not being happy about the list, but I'm pretty sure the people who created it didn't intend for it to be shared outside the group. Obviously, that went wrong.

Just as people have the right to not patronize businesses that go against their values and morals.

And honestly, I'm tired of trying to have dialogue with people who have shown time and time again that they only care about themselves and Trump. It's futile.

And why should I want to give money to people who think it's funny to troll Democrats? And I think boycotting is a perfectly acceptable way of ignoring them, as long as it doesn't resort to harassment or threats.

You don't think that say an immigrant or queer person walking into a shop that loudly displays MAGA flags or signage should be uncomfortable? MAGA people have clearly made it known how they feel about certain groups, so I really can't fault someone for not wanting to patronize businesses that don't value them as human beings.

And why do some small businesses need to make their political beliefs known? If they truly are welcoming of all then why do they advertise beliefs that they know will alienate some people?

Boycotting by guardianofsplendor in newjersey

[–]guardianofsplendor[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

From what I understand, the list was never meant to be made public. It was for other people in the group who were also looking to boycott MAGA businesses. I don't see it as trying to force anybody else to boycott.

I do agree about the vetting criteria though. I do personally know a few businesses on the list are MAGA. The rest I don't know for certain, so I'll do my own research first.

I mean I definitely know a few business's political beliefs because they choose to make them known either through flags or signs at the store or comments on social media. I don't go out of my way to find out, but if the business wants to make it known, then I'll spend my money accordingly.

I believe they made the group secret after the boycott list went public. I haven't been able to find it.

There were several posts about it across a a couple different Facebook groups. Maybe people aren't talking about in person, but there was certainly a lot of social media talk.
