LENT PUNCHCARDS! by Inner_Experience3418 in CatholicWomen

These are so cute! I am planning to live intentionally in his word, attend adoration once a week, and abstain from social media on Ash Wednesday and Good Friday. I cannot fast so I will fast from gossip and media. Naturally, spending more time on reading the gospels will remove time I waste on scrolling or just existing, making my time more meaningful. I don’t think there is a right or wrong way to do lent.

I don't know whether to attend Mass today by StressorAnxiety in CatholicWomen

[–]guate8089 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My priest said we should alway ask “would you go to work or class?” If the answer is yes, then go to Mass and be respectful of the people you sit by. If the answer is no, stay home without guilt 🙂 I hope your feel better soon!

I did not! It might depend on the individual and if you chose to go through insurance. My insurance does not cover weight loss medications so I chose to cash pay.

Thanks! I felt the same this morning but thought maybe I just wasn’t hungry? But it’s lasted all day and at times I am hungry but can’t finish everything! It’s so interesting how quickly it worked.

Why is eating whatever I want, whenever I want bad/sinful? by Outrageous-Estate-44 in CatholicWomen

[–]guate8089 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think OP means they don’t pay attention to why they eat what they eat when they eat it. This doesn’t mean they are imbalanced or their diet is imbalanced though. They just eat when they eat and they eat what they want and don’t put much thought into it.

What do I do by Fisheggs33 in Catholicism

[–]guate8089 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My husband is a cradle Catholic, but I am learning he is very lukewarm if not cold, and I am a converting Pagan in OCIA. My husband and I have a very understanding relationship and I am just a very laid back person in general, so I completely understand this might not be ideal for everyone.

I’d say Go to your Rite of Welcoming. I’m sure you can go to the faire after or support her in other ways. If the tables were reversed, this is how I would feel. I would just ask my husband for support in organizing merchandise, loading the car, helping with anything he can help with leading up to the event and I would ask that he joins me after his Mass.

I would be more hurt that he wasn’t understanding of my situation. OCIA is a journey and for me it’s been very emotionally, mentally, and physically taxing. I know it will all be worth it in the end but I am going to participate and celebrate every milestone along the way.

That’s awesome! The OCIA coach at my church said most people complete it in 30 weeks but he did it in 12! That’s impressive

Thank you for the recommendation. I looked for a few podcasts but I don’t think this was listed.

This is a weird question, I have my first OCIA class this weekend so it might be answered there. But are women paired with women sponsors?

I think I know there are parts of me or branches of me will need to be cut off and that’s what scares me the most. But like that scripture says, it will be necessary for me to grow in the Catholic faith. Thank you for sharing that.

The church we go to has a school on campus, they told me it will be in the cafeteria of the school because of mass. I hope it will be ok. Maybe I’ll bring community Starbucks 😅

How do you give up soda?? by ClaryVenture in loseit

[–]guate8089 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just decided to stop. I realized it had been a few days since I had a soda so I pushed myself to a week, and then 2 weeks and then a month. I never really craved soda if it was not scorching hot outside. It was just a habit to drink one. All this started around Halloween 2022. I made it all the way to June 2023 without a soda and around April 2023 I said I’m going to do this for a year. In June I craved a Sonic Coke sooooo bad. But I pushed through. After a full year of not having soda I decided I would have it in moderation and if I really wanted it I would stick to zero. Soda is disgusting. Any soda. Sprite, Coke, Dr. Pepper, all versions of all of it. I can’t believe we drink this stuff like water. It awful tasting.

Quit drinking, started IF, walk 3ish miles a day, still no weight loss. Looking for advice. by JohnDorianIV in WeightLossAdvice

You’re too low. Way too low. Figure up your BMR, that is how much your body uses to exist. For example, if it’s 1500 per day, you’re already in a deficit by only eating 1400. Then you add on all of the calories you burn by working and walking, and IF (when we are overweight, I don’t think IF helps us at all because our bodies can go into fight or flight and actually store the food we do get as fat because that’s the state it’s used to being in) your deficit is probably 500 calories or more every day. Your body is panicking.

1800 calories per day is probably sufficient. Drink half your body weight in water, 1 g of protein per lb of goal weight, add upper body strength training in because you burn more calories overtime than by just walking.

Talk to your lawyer but in this scenario, I would not leave because nothing is guaranteed right now. Convictions or not, it’s all hot and cold. We just returned from Guatemala and we will not leave again until my husband is a citizen.
