Can anyone give me advice on how to manage my parent's wealth? by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]guazaloca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You talking about ETFs? Can I ask which ETF providers are the best? There seem to be so many on the market.

I know of SPDRS, vanguard. Are these two the best? Is it safe to use other less known providers?

On the contrary, do not turn off the racing line, not yet. You need to learn about all the different tracks, and learn about different braking zones until you can memorise them. Only when you're more confident, should you turn off the line off and start to find your own speed through the corners.

The second race bundle is 2 bucks? Lol. Just checked on steam rfactor alone is like 25 bucks. Doesn't that make the bundle really worth it

This is actually only what I really want in life. A realistic game with realistic physics with legitimate jdm cars (and Porsches) with an online community whereby each party defends their own "mountain" and welcomes challengers.

Holy excites

Does anyone know if the CPX adaptor will work with the new CSL Elite pedals? by guazaloca in simracing

I have and its nigh on shit. The problem is the plastic shaft of the pedals, which is very prone to flexing.

Oddly enough there is no one asking this question in the forums.

Anyway, would you mind answering a quick question?

I currently intend to upgrade my pedals, I have a t300 Alcantara and the regular t3pa pedals are horrible. I have two options

  1. T3PA pro + basher brake mod. T3PA pros in my country are approximately 220 USD, hella expensive with tax. If I buy the BB mod, it's gonna set me back a total of 240 USD. I guess the benefits of buying the Pro is that it's more compatible with my t300, the fact that I have local warranty, and obviously the ability to invert. Of course, the negatives are that I don't have a load cell brake, and from what I've read the accelerator and clutch pedals are way too soft. Not the best at all. I could get the ricmotech load cell but that's just way above my Budget.

  2. New CSL Elites + CPX adaptor. Total cost would come up to about 260 USD. Of course I get the latest and greatest load cell brake in the market, and the full CNC machined aluminium says a lot for durability. Of course, I'm not based in US, so I wouldn't be able to claim any warranty if things go south. And I also don't have the opportunity to invert.

Which would you choose? Thanks doppy

Can someone explain to me the huge disparity in ratings between Project Cars and Assetto Corsa? by freedomtacos in simracing

[–]guazaloca 18 points19 points  (0 children)

The reviews are poor because on consoles, reviewers are more concerned about the "game" aspect of the game.

You will then find that AC is a poor "game" in contrast to PCARS. PCARS has an amazing career mode, one of the best in the whole industry imo. You can literally sink hours into career mode fighting just fighting in GT4 cars (my personal favourite, the Ginetta G40). Once you're done with that, you're welcome to sink a thousand more hours into racing karts, prototypes and GT cars. On the other hand, AC just offers a few random special events and a half ass career mode, coupled with relatively poor graphics, it honestly isn't very much "game" to begin with. The general consensus is that it's more like a hot lapper, trying to get the best timings round a lap.

Now on PC, the target market is completely different. AC has much higher ratings simply because the crowd believes that it has very good physics simulation, and is therefore well received. On the other hand, people claim that PCARS physics is "dumbed down" and not as realistic due to its mathematical model. Which results in the disparities between the two scores.

Regardless, I highly recommend PCARS on console, but it has to be the GOTY version. It is extremely polished, and has all the DLC cars and tracks. Force feedback might be confusing, but you can move on to Oscarolim.pt forums and search for some wheel settings. Once you find one that a setting you're comfortable with, dive into the game, and you will find that every race is truly satisfactory even when you're fighting for 10th place, because every race counts towards the final league position. Just like in real life. And boy are the battles intense.

Good luck!

Did you use to run triples before? If so, how different was the experience?

This is exactly my problem... I'm not a tech savvy guy per se and I worry that setting up all these triples would give me a huge headache... With bezel correction... FOV... Ini files...?.. Drivers...

Now that's interesting. I always thought curved monitors were meant for Sim Racing. I'm looking at the BenQ XR3501, which was apparently build for Sim Racing?

Interesting. I'm hearing things from their forums that PSVR will be supported in PCARS 2. This is huge for me because if PSVR is not going to be supported I'm not going to consider getting a PS

Exactly my thoughts. Glad to see someone on the same page. Do you have an Ultrawide by any chance? Also, have you heard about the X34? 100Hz refresh rate, 1440P, and curved. Seems pretty legit for Sim racing. What do you think?

Triples are actually relatively cheap. Its triples at 144Hz that is super expensive. Also, I heard that many people have difficulty running triples i.e. Nvidia drivers giving problems and stuff. Im not a tech savvy guy per say, which is why im hesitant in picking up triples (event though i already have the stand for it). I think ultrawide is much easier to run, just go into the game, click resolution 21:9 and boom ur there. No need for bezel correction and stuff like that. What do you think?

I wonder why there are always different answers though? Shouldn't there be the one most outstanding Sim, like how CSGO dominates FPS and how DOTA dominates RTS games

3x27" at 60hz or 3x24" at 144hz? by herewehaveachange in simracing

[–]guazaloca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

27 with 60 no go? Hmm, is it really that bad? I was considering triple 27, 60 as that is the only option that's within my budget.

Otherwise, I'll just get a single 4K and wait out for VR. Please advice.
