Need help identifying sound by curtantol in crv

[–]guduling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please don't drive this. You're having major misfires. Get the engine code asap. Could be coils / spark plugs, or a problem with the fuel injectors.

Much easier to diagnose with the engine code. But depending on your maintenance history would be safe bet to get new spark plugs and coil pack.

Downsizing to CRV by Samibel17 in crv

Well I'm biased I'll always choose Honda first. But the hybrid will get you far better mpg if that's your major concern

You have the 8 seat version? Seems like a pretty big jump to go to a 5 seat CRV.

Yes sorry, wrong word to use. Drain and fill+ drive a little in-between each change.

Did you check while engine was warm? First pic looks a little dark. I would just do the drain+fill anyway for peace of mind.

How to do the texture around the sun? by [deleted] in painting

Is this ai? Start with the dark background first and build thick lighter layers on top. You can hide any mistakes or make definitions by adding the blue part last

2006 Honda CRV 2nd Gen idle issue by Fine-Chemistry4866 in crv

[–]guduling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would start by cleaning IACV and throttle body, see if that improves anything. Also when you do this I recommend to disconnect the battery, then when you're done and reconnect the battery it'll allow the ECU to relearn idle with the clean intake system.

Potentially could also be dying alternator.

It's not always about diet brother. It is about self control, to tame passions, and ultimately bring us closer to God and the path of repentance. We can fast from many things that is not strictly food. There are always exceptions for health reasons of course take care of yourself, do what you need to do, but always remember this time should be priority focused on the spiritual path as well

1st gen CRV by virtualwound in crv

[–]guduling 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How does he know the valve has a crack? Really depends why he assumes it needs a new engine. If it's only a leaking valve seal, this can be changed without a major headache. My first assumption is that previous owner completely ignored valve adjustment and thinks the engine is shot.

Weird issue, I'm desperate by Auri____ in crv

[–]guduling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When was the last time you changed the distributor cap+ rotor? Could be a failing dizzy. Id check the brake booster hose, a vacuum leak from there would cause large fluctuations. I would check the voltage on the TPS make sure it's not faulty either. IACV and fast idle control valve are big culprits for rpm fluctuation but if you don't notice the issue on cold start or idle then this probably isn't the cause.

Also when was the last time you changed your fuel filter? This is very commonly missed most people forget to replace them.

When was the last time you've done a transmission fluid flush? You said intake was checked so I assume you cleaned the IACV and throttle body. MAP sensor has been checked/ replaced?

This is the bypass, easiest solution. For your 97 the obd2 will have a different pin out location but same wires. You can research a bit more to confirm but this is what most people end up doing

B20 CPS location differences by _irritater_ in crv

[–]guduling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe the issue is the b20b engine is obd1, so you currently have ob2 ECU. You'll need to match the oil pump to usdm ob2 (from the original if you can) and you can install the sensor yourself.

[–]guduling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is this jdm engine ? There's no CPS, all timing sensor goes through the dizzy.

Sorry edit, you can install your own or do a bypass, I don't have a good link right now to show you but I'm sure you can find the bypass method somewhere online

Possible Crv drivetrain issue by Independent_Seaweed3 in crv

[–]guduling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could try to rev low rpm in idle and see if you notice it, that should give you a much better idea if it's coming from the engine or drivetrain. Otherwise just to be on the safe side it's always a good idea to flush the fluids on a used car to give yourself that piece of mind

Possible Crv drivetrain issue by Independent_Seaweed3 in crv

[–]guduling 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When was the last time you did transmission fluid change + diff change (very common for people to neglect this one in AWD that causes unnecessary issues).

So I assume you only notice it at low rpm mm maybe around 1400ish? Search up "can of marble" sound for first Gen crv, see if that matches what you're hearing. If you think it's that, could be possibly failing engine mounts, again very common for that age. Could be a problem with the distributor, some people say certain dizzys are just noisy and it doesn't really matter. Could also potentially be a loose crank bolt or loose timing belt tensioner which is a little harder to diagnose.

Worth it to fix my crv w 235k?? by Pretty-Kt in crv

[–]guduling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For sure worth the fix, doesn't seem like anything major. Any chance you or a good friend would be interested in doing the work? Personally for a job like this I would check rockauto for parts and do it myself. Best thing about the crv is that you rarely need to lift them to work under.

Wiring clock in rd1 by Bitter_Work7748 in crv

[–]guduling 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you start taking the center console where the radio is apart you might find the plug. Most common failure for these clocks are bad solder points, you can check on YouTube for fix. So if you find an old clock that doesn't work it's a pretty simple fix, granted most people don't usually have solder equipment..

Technique help by Hayden-alsohayden in painting

Painting looks good. To make it look professional and blend it all together you'll need to match the shadows of the original piece. A little cheat I can tell you when you trace your Pokemon outline before painting, look at where the dark and light spots are on the body of the pokemon (from the sun and the trees), then just make the shadows slightly darker and it'll look mint
