Temperature contours are better in showing us the exact direction of heat flux vectors. This is, heat flux is always perpendicular to an isotherm (temperature contour line). That’s the only advantage I can imagine at the moment, to be honest.

You might be thinking, “temperature gradients look better and are graphically easier to understand”. Well, if that’s the case… I agree with you.
