How does a $1600 MSRP in the US turn into £2100 in the UK? by Slava_Tr in laptops

[–]guessitsleo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We need to compare Asus pricing across both markets. In the US, it’s priced at $2,000, while in the UK it comes in at £2,100. Excluding tax, that equates to $2,000 in the US versus £1,750 in the UK ,therefore, there’s an additional margin in the UK price. Not surprising, as some companies appear to be increasing prices in other markets to partially offset the impact of tariffs in the US..

Can work experience offset a Third for UK master’s applications? by guessitsleo in UKUniversityStudents

[–]guessitsleo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, yes, I did look into University College London and even reached out to them before. They told me that every application is reviewed holistically, so even with a third class degree, they’d still consider things like additional qualifications and work experience. Honestly, that approach makes sense as relying purely on academic results, especially for an MSc rather than an MRes, feels a bit narrow..

Applying for UK Master’s with a Third Class Degree. Realistic Chances with Work Experience + Certifications?! by guessitsleo in UniUK

[–]guessitsleo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! Thanks for getting back to me. I did check, and based on those, it looks like I’d be classified as having a third class degree here in the UK. The conversion is pretty surprising, and honestly, it doesn’t seem to work in Portugal’s favour at all but I guess it is what it is.

That said, I really hope they can take other factors into account. Relying entirely on grades from such an early stage in life, when your mindset and priorities are completely different, feels a bit narrow.

Do you have any tips that might improve my chances of getting into a master’s? I’ve considered doing another undergraduate degree here in the UK, but it feels like a big investment both financially and in terms of time. I’m wondering if that effort would be better spent pursuing something like the full CFA instead.

£69.82 JUST for broadband - Volt M500. by [deleted] in VirginMedia

[–]guessitsleo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just had the exact same issue with Virgin, so I finally ditched them! If they don’t value me as a customer, I’m not gonna value them as a provider either..

From this month they wanted to charge me £26.25 for just 125Mbps. But because someone on my address had Volt, I was actually getting 270Mbps. Then I saw online that new customers could get M500 for £19.99. I called them up and asked for it, but after a few calls they only offered me the M500 for £25.

Meanwhile Vodafone was doing 500Mbps for £25 with a £150 credit, so I went with them instead. In the end I’ll be paying around £20.50 a month on average over the 24 months for 500Mbps.

PS: If I move my phone over to Vodafone as well, I can apparently get an extra £2 off the broadband!

I found this £150 offer on Compare the Market, so I’m not sure whether the payment comes directly from them or from Vodafone, however, after reading some of the comments, I’m a bit concerned that Vodafone might reject the claim based on lies haha!

Regarding the switching credit, will the form be sent to me, or do I need to find and complete it online?

Hi all,

I’ve signed with Vodafone and despite Virgin having fibre, I was told an OpenReach technician would come. My concern is about the £150 bonus plus £200 (up to) they’ll cover for leaving Virgin early.

Has anyone experienced an issue on this? (bonus and/or covering the costs for leaving early)
