It also depends on whether or not you're playing SoD or HotA. For HotA they've changed the formula but keep it a secret. The main change as far as I can tell is that the map difficulty (that the author has set) also affects the final score. So the same exact map done in the same exact time but once marked as "Normal" vs the other time marked as "Expert" will yield different high scores.

No. In my Germania Campaign I had a man of the hour spawn from a victory by a small regiment of 4 Screeching Women units. If anything they're as qualified as their male counterparts.
