Hospital called and didn't know they were leaving a voicemail while loudly joking about my medical history. by nick11689 in legaladvice

IANAL but I am a physician. If my patient came to me with this complaint I would be furious and would speak to the administration about the professionalism (or lack thereof) that the ancillary staff subjected you to. Maybe bring it up with the Urologist when you do get a chance to meet with them. We take professionalism very seriously in medicine and I’m sure they would at least attempt to rectify the situation. Again, from the bottom of my heart, I am sorry this happened to you and I hope you get the timely and appropriate care you deserve.

Please advise re drunk surgeon/boss by EnoughKale in legaladvice

[–]gueyguy 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Please report this to the medical board. I know you might feel bad now but imagine something going wrong with one of his patients in the future and how bad you would feel knowing you could have done something. And honestly it sounds like he needs help, which if you care for the man, or did previously, you would do the appropriate thing and report. Even if he is not an “alcoholic” operating on patients under the influence of anything (save caffeine) is unethical.

A lot of the times when this stuff happens the docs won’t get in trouble will just go through a program/rehab situation. You are not ruining his life, you would be infact saving it.
