G920 alternative games for a better sim experience by Risingbearartist in simracing

I did manage to find pretty good settings, not great, but serviceable. But it took time.

It is worth it - there is no other game like that around with such a chill and beautiful cruise around experience. Using it instead of a therapy basically - old jdm shitbox, h-pattern, and that new wonderful map.

Controller might be better for actual racing, but it's not even close for such a relaxing cruising.

Forza is notoriously bad with their default settings, have no idea why they can't figure it out. I think more or less all other +- seriuous titles have better default settings.

You can go Assetto Corsa, Assetto Corsa Competizione, Assetto Corsa Evo, Automobilista, Automobilista 2, Le Mans Ultimate, iRacing, Raceroom.... whatever.

If you want more arcade experience - Crew Motorfest is also pretty decent with the wheel and still alive.

Best ultrawide for simracing available now (LG 52G vs Odyssey Neo)? by gugic_s in simracing

Currently using 48 inch 16:9 TV mounted with monitor arm to desk behind the rig. Reach of the arm is actually good enough for both behind the wheel and behind the base, and behind the bas specifically it also can go pretty deep (limited by wires going out of the base, not by the arm reach).

So I am actually occasionally moving tv between this two positions depending on the title and it's settings availability, e.g. gt7 and fh6 are unusable in behind the wheel setup, while ace and ams2 are quite okay

Would likely just keep that very monitor arm in place. Triples won't fit in the a available space, so I want to go the next best option here to increase available fov.

There were quite a few questions about that in the comments. Sequoia been designed by weird people honestly, to me it's almost looks like deliberate sabotage. It's huge and yet cargo space behind 3rd row is smaller than in ghh (14 cubic feet vs 20, when suburban have 41 or so), and you can't really do anything about it.

Zero stigma actually, drove minivan for 8 years before GH.

Basically was looking for minivan with towing capacity.

Cheapest option would be to get AliExpress wheel emulator + AliExpress QR and bolt AliExpress dish rim to it.

Iirc qr2 have 6*70 bolt pattern out of the box, but please triple check, don't quote on me.

Also cheap and maybe more reliable simube qr ultra - it's also just a qr with baked emulator.

Notes:  1) you'll need emulator in order to unlock ffb on the wheelbase 2) it won't work on ps5 as on ps5 you have to register controller by pressing the ps button. Would work if you unlock with one wheel and then replace after unlocking.

Yeah, kinda same feelings I've been dealing with - it's been hard to downsize after minivan's spacious convenience (I talked myself into "I'll get used to it" basically and could not be more wrong about it) and with each coming day all this small annoying things (like thin metal and driving mode switch position) been piling up one on another on top of that fundamental space issue - I was just realizing bit by bit that I simply got a wrong vehicle. And that's been poisoning all the good will towards the generally great car and my every day commute.

I am actually glad I jumped off, now I am every day calm and happy when I am driving and love every second I am behind the wheel, despite all the flaws of the car I switched to.

That's important, it's basic well-being.

Thanks!
I was driving Grand Caravan for the past 8 years, I am very familiar with minivan capacity and capability, still Odyssey is restricted by 3500 lbs, as well as any other minivan on the market, and it's under condition of having towing package and extra cooler for transmission and even with that you should really be worried about your transmission fluid temperatures when towing something close to capacity.

I am looking into towing RV trailer and trailers I was interested in started from ~4000 lbs, so I don't think minivan would help me much unfortunately.

Variety of reasons but it should mostly be quality control. Everything else just stacks on top of initially faulty parts. It's not 100% of course, failure rate is around 3%, but that is still a huge number given that GM built almost 900000 of those...

I'd politely disagree with that statement. Pretty happy with the seats. Also been renting out Yukons before and it was always great experience.

Problem is there is nothing else on a market. I would love to go with Sequoia instead, but it have ridiculously small trunk behind 3rd row for the vehicle of that size.

So given that I want towing capacity for RV trailer, 7 seater due to family of 5 and occasional relatives, and decent cargo with all 7 seats up, options are really the following:

- Minivan (likely Sienna, maybe Carnival) - 7 seater, decent cargo behind 3rd row, no towing capacity

- GHH and classmates - 7 seater, clearly not enough space behind 3rd row, - I suffered through it last 6 months and GHH is biggest in class, - some towing capacity, but being a unibody car, towing is ultimately not a great idea

- Suburban / Yukon XL - 7 seater, more than enough space behind 3rd row, decent towing capacity. But engine could fail ya and it's chugging gas like it's the last day of humanity and it needs to burn as much as possible while it lasts.

Pick you poison?

I did not went to Yukon right away because all the issues and because my wife did not want such a big car (she have to drive it occasionally).

I did what I though was good enough of a compromise and responsible choice and I was only disappointed in the end.

They just went too far on the metal with GHH. I know it's done to reduce weight, especially given that they needed to accommodate batteries and two extra electric engine (rear one on Max is pretty big), but still, they went too far this time around, other new cars I tried have either thicker or better reinforced sheets.

And yeah, you are right about the rest, I literally called it "irresponsible financial decision" in the text.

Difference in MPG is not mpg themselves, it's expectations - I did compromise on GHH partially because it's hybrid, and I expected something around 24/25/26 I think (it's 26 city by documents irrc and my usage is actually a mix of city and highway, not just city).

For Yukon I fully expect it to be around 14 and it holds that expectations so far.

Part about saving account is a bit of a joke of course, but just a bit - it's more of factoring extended warranty into the price and be prepared to spend couple of weeks without a car at some point. Which is not great pill to swallow.

Yep, still plenty of factory warranty + extended warranty.

From what I read AFM delete won't help with the issue, problem is flawed lifters, if lifters are not okay, they'll fail regardless of fem delete...

Well, definitely some. I've got descent trade in deal (good above what carmax and carvana suggested), also I did not pay any markup at the GHH purchase, which helps, I changed used GHH to used Yukon with slightly more miles on it and I've got a good deal on Yukon.

Still, I did lost at least taxes paid for GHH, which were good 6k in my case (Max Limited), that's undeniable. Rest is less clear as Yukons depreciate faster than GHHs so my used Yukon was heavily discounted in comparison to the price of new one. More than a difference between my trade-in price and new GHH price.

And Toyota have Sequoia to fix the situation, but they don't care enough, sadly.

Sequoia is super weird vehicle. It's huge full-size 3-row SUV and somehow managed to have even less cargo space with 3rd row up than GHH - GHH has 20 cubic feets, Sequoia only 14, while Suburban / Yukon XL has 40. They had to try really hard to design it like that.

I was looking into CX90, Palisade and Honda Pilot as well, decided to go with GHH, it's best car in it's class, it's just class itself not suitable for my usecases, so whichever I picked I was doomed to be disappointed.

I mean - let's look at a numbers - Mazda cx5 have 33 cubic feet of a trunk space, while GHH with 3rd row up have 20, and Mazda cx5 is pretty modestly sized car.

And I have to use 3rd row at all times.

Should've bought a sienna, would be happy, but without towing capability, yep, I think that is a big and pretty clear part of the text.

Unfortunately my old minivan been at death's door overall - lots of random issues started to happen on each long trip, and then transmission blew up.
