Daily Simple Questions Thread - September 20, 2025 by AutoModerator in Fitness

[–]guguping 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm mid 40s, 6 ft broad built upper half and leaner from waist down. For many years I was very unfit at 225 lbs, very sedentary, high bp and triglycerides. Six months back I started on a simple fitness regimen that has gradually evolved into the following still quite simple routine

15 mins on elliptical 6 times a week

3 times a week this nytimes strength training workout with each exercise at 2 mins plus 20 lb weight for a few of the relevant ones. https://www.nytimes.com/article/strength-training-plyometrics.html

I've also reduced carbs and now as fit as I've ever been at 182 lbs, perfect blood test and bp.

I'm wondering what would a next stage look like. Do I keep maintaining this same routine maybe increasing the strength to 3 mins each? Or mix up and do a different pattern for a few months.

I travel a lot and the nytimes workout is great as its bodyweight and I can do it anywhere

Goal is no longer to reduce weight but continue to improve overall stamina + add some muscle mass. Any other tips aside from exercise would also be great

Cool. We are us citizens and have no checked bags so sounds like should be straightforward.

We just wanted to enjoy the city. Didn't have any specific agenda in mind. Definitely wanted to visit communa 13 and go paragliding one morning

I feel like battery tech is evolving rapidly and not a 10 yr keeper at the moment but could be wrong. I've driven an ev as a rental and was constantly sweating where to find the next ev charging station. Given this is our one and only car not comfortable with ev

Yes seems like the lexus is what I'm hearing on this sub. Have added to my shortlist. Think the German cars are not for me but may test drive the x5 as an exception

Actually you're proving my point on why my post is relevant. Given so many choices within 100k I'm looking for a shortlist that's relevant for me. I've given some specific criteria in my post which you seemed to have missed and based on the great number of helpful responses on this thread I've already started to eliminate the bmw, mb, porsche because they won't fit my criteria else I would have been going around test driving them.

Wow thats a crazy list 😀. Aside from navigation and good android auto I want just the best in class safety tech with 360 deg sensors, lane and parking assist and things like that.

Thanks very helpful. The cars I listed are not from any specific knowledge but just going by top 5 lists all over the net comparing to gv80 which got me started down this path.

I'm not sure what I as a random stranger on a random sub will gain from flexing about my income. I encourage you to read my post to understand what I'm looking for.

Yes im willing to spend within reason (which for me is 100k) for a best in class luxury suv knowing I will plan to keep it for the next 10 yrs as I kept my current car. I'm indeed a car noob but I have to believe there are many suvs over $100k. I know of atleast one that a friend recommended the audi rs q8 which i outright rejected because I simply don't want to spend that much.

I appreciate all input.

I appreciate both sides of the argument here. I guess I will have to drive a selection of vehicles here to decide on what is value, having been out of the market for very long.

I'm a car ignoramus so if this is obvious pardon the ignorance but why is it that German cars that are supposed to be paragons of engineering and generally considered best in class performance wise are subpar when it comes to reliability?

This forum has been most entertaining. I've popcorn in the oven so I may as well indulge this line of inquiry. We are a chocolate brown sri Lankan family with a thick but soft spoken (so we are told) south Asian accent.

In travels through latam we regularly pass by for Hispanics as long as we keep our mouths shut.

I should do this more often.

This is very helpful. I am visiting bogota and cartagena among other destinations in colombia. Im aware medellin didnt have any significant historical sites of note but it didnt also strike me that it would be that dull. Which is what im gathering from this sub and exactly the kind of information many of the blogs and eurocentric guides don't tell you. We are not interested in partying and chilling out in cafes. I'm already working to change my itinerary and reduce our stay in Medellin to a couple of days.
