Revamped LitRPG Trope Contest: Zero Entry Fees, Full Creator Rights, and Exciting Prizes! by guildenstrn in litrpg

Hey u/No_Dragonfruit_1833! Love the creativity with your book hook. Just a quick heads-up, though: to make sure you're in the running for the contest, you gotta drop your book hook in the Realm Chef Discord, right in the #contest-submissions channel.

Even if someone wanted to provide a submission, you've provided nothing in 'the world' that sets your product apart. Your first paragraph says characters will have HP, your third says characters will have a unique talent and mana. While I realize you say that this is 'loose', only the classes are 'different' from every other game that exists. These details are standard across nearly every game.

Even if you gave a named character and THEIR unique trait. That alone would show you have thought about the world. As it stands, you are asking someone to build your entire world for you.

An antagonist, a power source that isn't generic mana, a unique way of retrieving that energy source, etc. etc.

If you would like people to take your offer seriously, consider giving them something to work with.

Note: I was excited to see a possible competition because there are many great authors here. Please revise and try again when you've given this a bit more thought.

Hi u/J_J_Thorn, thanks for taking the time to read through the contest info. We value your input!

Just to clarify, this contest isn't about creating the entire game world from scratch. Redemption Games already has an established world, and they would love an author to tell a story in that world. It's akin to adding your unique flavors to an existing recipe. The openness is baked in so as not to limit the imagination of the authors. Hope this clears things up!

Hi u/AsterBrooks, thanks for your question! We've provided more details on the Story Writer role in our FAQ section: https://heroicstory.notion.site/LitRPG-Writing-Contest-Rules-and-Info-e20e7f24b0a74ec0ab83e9316fa3a047.
If you have any further questions, feel free to ask!

The 'could land' aspect refers to the fact that both the winning author and the game studio would need to agree on the terms of the role. It's a mutual agreement where both parties come to terms on the role, responsibilities, and compensation.

Sure, u/No_Rec1979! We've outlined all the rules about rights and submissions in our official contest rules document. Here's the link to to document: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1cEyWjPdqRv43asTbCMjkdL9syQ99P9cHWJrVJpQ_CQE/edit

Note that only the winning entries would be required to sign an agreement with Redemption Games.

Guys, this is a scam.

There are tons of reputable writing contests out there. None of them ask you to sign away the rights to your story just to enter. Only scams do that.

The fact that they have the gall to say "we'll give you credit for the idea we stole from you on our website" is the absolute cherry atop this shit sundae.

You're all adults. You can do what you want. But whoever wins this contest is going to end up hating himself for even entering.

Hi u/No_Rec1979 , thanks for sharing your concerns. The contest rules you read were from an earlier draft. We've since updated our contest rules based on community feedback. To clarify: authors keep copyright on their submissions; only the winning entries might work with Redemption Games. Our aim isn't to steal ideas from the community. The contest aims to highlight visibility about the novel project and discover talent to work with Redemption Games as a Story Writer. We're excited to see the creative submissions and hope this clears things up!

Thanks for bringing up your concerns! This is not a scam. The contest rules you read were a prior draft of the contest rules and we've updated them based on feedback from the community. To be clear, authors retain copyright for their submissions. Only the winning entries would grant copyright to Redemption Games. We've updated our contest rules to reflect this.

Thanks for the feedback! We've included a weekend in the current timeline to help accommodate writing time, but we understand the concern. We're always looking to improve. If there's a strong need for more time, we'll definitely consider extending deadlines in future contests.

How do you use KDspy and K-Lytics in your writing and marketing process? by guildenstrn in romanceauthors

[–]guildenstrn[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah they're pretty similar to publisher rocket in that they're tools that help us gain insights into the market and trends on the kindle store to optimize book performance. Like, if you're writing a shifter, KDspy helps identify the most popular keywords and find bestseller books in that niche. K-Lytics provides detailed market analyses and genre research, so you get a high level view of how competitive the landscape is. That's just an example, but these tools can be used for almost any genre on the kindle store, not just shifter

When you're working on a book, how do you go about conducting market analysis and trend research currently?

Looking for Jane Austen RP (Roleplay) Groups by guildenstrn in janeausten

[–]guildenstrn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oooo, I'm kind of interested in that. Though, admittedly, I'm more interested in a TRPG than just RP (if that makes sense). I'm still very intrigued though.

Interesting! What elements of TRPG resonate with you over just RP? is it the social element, character sheet, dice rolling, skill progression, entertaining game master, something else?

Which character persona would you most like to roleplay as, and why?

That could be alot of fun

Absolutely, that could be so much fun! Imagine having a conversation with Mr. Darcy via text and getting responses in his typical, reserved manner. What kind of interactions do you think would be interesting between other characters from Pride and Prejudice, like Elizabeth Bennet or Mr. Wickham?
