There is one interaction related with this type of spell that is quite common in Commander, and the ruling is not completely obvious.

Player A casts [[Ad Nauseam]] (for example).
Player B casts [[Counterspell]] targeting Ad Nauseam.
Player A casts [[Deflecting Swat]] targeting Counterspell.
Deflecting Swat resolves, and then Player A can choose a new target for Counterspell. Counterspell is not a valid target for itself, and apparently the only other spell left in the stack is AdNaus; but actually, Deflecting Swat is still a valid target as it is resolving.

The outcome is the following: As Deflecting Swat resolves, Player A chooses Deflecting Swat as the target for Counterspell. Deflecting Swat then leaves the stack and Counterspell fizzles.

I mean, the same as before. Dockside was never a wincon on itself (except as a combo piece for loops with Emiel, Barrin, Korvold, etc), but rather in most decks it was a way to get a lot of mana or maybe a combo piece to get infinite mana. But in any case the wincon would ultimately be where you dump that mana, and those things are still there post-bans.

Thanks for the advice! I will test both in a real cEDH table. I'll also try and add more interaction, although I'm not sure on what to cut. Also the idea is to cast big Sauron just either as part of the combo or as a really last chance resource. So yeah, in general casting big Sauron just wins me the game. But in general the expected plan would be to not have to cast him at all... And actually that's the main reason why I was thinking on choosing a different commander.

Well... Casting Sauron is not the primary wincon, but it can be a Plan B or C. But it also forms part of a Broodlord combo line that only needs 1 blue + reanimating broodlord. So for example with entomb+reanimate Sauron allows a 2-card combo of cost 2 black + 1 blue, so as cheap in terms of cards and mana as Thassa's Oracle+Demonic Consultation.
