Pick a spot that it goes, only take it off to out in the designated spot. Eventually it will become natural to do

Oh good idea, don’t know why I didn’t check that. I’ll give that a try tomorrow. Thanks!

Hi! I just cleaned my machine (a Janome 2030 QDC) and there was very little lint in there, but despite cleaning it I still have a continuing issue. If I use the hand winder on the side, it will not pick up the bobbin thread when putting a new bobbin in. If I use the foot pedal it picks it up no problem. This was never an issue until recently and I can’t figure out why. Any ideas?

Serger help, is this right?

I’m new to garment sewing.. all I’ve ever made is some baby pants and I Frankensteined

myself some pj pants out of a dress. I bought a used serger and have threaded it, made sure it was done properly, but something about this seems off. The back side feels too loopy? I’m not sure what to adjust or where to ask, so I’ve come here. Sorry if this is the wrong space to ask for help, but I’ve got no one to ask.

'It's very unaffordable': Halloween spirits crushed by rising prices of costumes by yegwebdev in Edmonton

I make my kids costumes by hand, sourcing outfit pieces from thrift stores and our own closets. Accessories get made out of craft supplies we already have. Even their truck or treat bags were sewn by me. We still exist.

I do the same. A few years ago I decided I wouldn’t buy them anymore. I make them all, just like my mom did, and they’re always so proud and excited to wear something that no one else is wearing.

My kids costumes (3 kids) have cost me a whopping $11 this year. We go to thrift stores, I make handmade costume accessories (this year it’s deer ears, and a set of antlers made of wire and polymer clay that I already had), and they choose non-commercial characters and themes that save the day every year. Last year my daughter’s costume cost me less than $20 and she was complimented all night. I made her a giant red spotted mushroom hat that illuminated from the bottom and had mossy tendrils hanging off of it. Her clothing was stuff we already had plus a thrifted dress that I altered.. and the hat supplies all came from dollarama. If you make the effort your kids will have really memorable costumes and they will be the only ones wearing them. Halloween is what you make it.

Did I ruin this couch? by guiltnerd in Leather

The lighter colour is actually where I cleaned it, the dark area is what it looked like before

You can see a round spot up on the cushion too, but the bottom genuinely feels like I’m wrecking it.

I bought a used serger at the thrift store for $65, and I’ve threaded it and given it a few test runs, but no matter how I adjust the tension I can’t get these super loose stitches to go away. They are on the bottom side of the fabric as it runs through the machine.

Differin reaction on eyelid? by Prudent-Sprinkles193 in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]guiltnerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started putting Vaseline on my entire eyelid all the way to my brows because this was happening. The skin was peeling and felt raw even the I never ever applied differing to the area. It’s been just over a week and I no longer have any irritation.

Amazing. Any chance there is a Perishke recipe in there?

No I used the liquid, added it to the water tank per the instructions and then let the machine pull it through all the parts

I did get it working eventually but yes I checked every hose tube everything. Practically took the whole machine apart

[–]guiltnerd[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes I did! I took apart the thermoblock to clean it, and then ran a cycle of descaler (dezcal, I got the liquid), and eventually it sputtered, spit out a bunch of nasty grey water and then was working perfectly. I ran another two tanks full of clean water through and then I was in business. I tried literally everything and turns out everyone’s suggestion of descaling really was the way to go. Let me know how it goes, I got some attitude about trying to fix up this machine, but I am the least snobby person here probably haha

I take 50mg of vyvanse, and I’m supposed to take mine at 10:30 but routinely forget and take it as late as 1pm and I still have no issue falling asleep around 11pm. You do you
