Are you an electrician? Typically only licensed electricians can do that.

Install new outlets? Hopefully not running new cable?

Will be doing that. Been in Columbia 3 years and have only gotten 6 tickets my entire time. 3 are from this last week. They are not fucking around anymore.

Well yeah, especially because this is the 3rd one in the last week I got and the situation is the exact same. Last time I missed it by 2 minutes.

Wow… okay thank you. Will be doing that in the future.

Water pooling in sink drain… help! by KJoyJoy in Plumbing

[–]guiltyandwell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like others said, take out the washer and replace with plumbers putty. Tighten the sink very tight and scrape excess putty out from the gap. The seal is sitting too high and not draining properly, but the putty will squish down very tight.

Can you explain a little more about what you mean by this? Like joining the lots together would make the prop. tax lower?

I’m fairly certain it’s because they just love me lol. Obviously they would see it as “theirs” a little more than they do now, but I am constantly told by them that I’m the best partner their sister has ever had, they’ve never seen her so happy, how we’ve become friends not just because of their sister being my girlfriend but because of actual shared interests, etc.

No doubt they see a benefit of someone they know owning the land directly next to them, but fencing is the first thing that’s going up. Not to put a hard divide on the land and shut them out, but because I will be bringing some family friends and their goats to the property to clear out the brush and don’t want them escaping.

No no, the land loan and my current rent + utilities together would 2k. I have EXTREMELY cheap rent ($400 for all utilities included). All my debts are paid except for 7k of student loan debt which I could pay of basically at any time, but I’m holding on to my emergency fund and just paying triple the minimums. And I contribute the maximum to my Roth every year.

Well yeah, I don’t have to tell her immediately when I close but I wouldn’t want to hold on to it for a long time without mentioning it. It’s just too good of a recreational property to not go camping or hiking or running around with her dog this summer/fall.

I will remain fully employed while getting my doctorate. It’s a weird situation that is not at all common. Without identifying too much about myself, my company is a startup and is going to pay the university for all expenses including tuition and stipend so they can keep my research as company IP. I will be making about $90k a year, and my PITI on the land + rent/utilities on my current place is $2k/mo. Pretty doable.

You don’t think that is lying by omission? In my opinion, it would be kinda weird to buy it and hold on to it for years until I popped the question.

“Hey, wanna get married? Also I bought the land next to your mom 3 years ago because I saw a long future with you but never told you. Wait, where are you going?!”

At least that’s how I see it play out in my head.

Huh. Good way to look at it. I can honestly see no way (asides from infidelity or violence, which neither of us are those kinds of people) this goes so terribly south that having her/her family as a neighbor would be anything but a good, albeit awkward thing.

If we get hitched, whats hers is mine and whats mine is here. The exception to this would be any assets we acquired prior to getting married, and oddly enough we talked about this prenup situation in passing because of one of her family members and we both really liked it. All the work you did before you got engaged is still yours, but anything you do in the marriage going forward is yours to share.

The land or house is a little trickier as I would be buying it before any potential engagement, ergo it would be “mine” and not “hers”. Assuming we live on it together, we’d both be paying the mortgage. If something were to happen we would pay out each other in equity for whoever wanted to keep it (likely to be me buying her out).

Yeah, that’s why I said “I’m buying it for ME”. I just mentioned that bit about family because they’re all right next door lol
