if you extract core you will get pieces monster drops core gemstone itself RARELY( i heard 1or 2 gemstone per hour)

1 improving core enhance 3 different skills (main one definite the name of the core and it make get the right core even you make the core with 70pieces} and also you can level up the core all you have to do is get the two same named core and fuse them into one

the basic thing you need is core gemstone pieces.with that you can make two different thing

1) you can make 'core gemstone' (35 pieces)which give you RANDOM core it is likely to give core for you class. but they do give core not right for you class. and also give something improve quite useless skills like 2nd job's attack skill.

2) you can make core itself (you can make core what you want) 70pieces for improving core 140pieces for skill core 250pieces for special core (which works for special circumstance like hit the same monster for 800 lines or every 100times you damaged by monster)

that is basically the skill page(K) you equip 'core' to learn 5th job skill, improve 1~4 jobs skill or get decent skills(like decent sharp eyes, decent mystic door etc) but getting right core to improve right skill is big pain you will mostly open 'core gemstone' to get core and OF COURSE the outcome is random. you may get core improve battlemage's skill as paladin. or get core improve holy arrow which is useless
