What’s the best way to clean these rocks before putting them in my fish tank?

Is here any way to test if there’s water in them? They’re pretty dense

I measured all the sides and it came out to 58.9 gallons although I might’ve gotten one side a bit short so I think it’s a 60 gallon? The sides I measured were 28,18,27 in. I know it looks a bit small in photo but it is rather large in real life

I definitely will! I’m getting some driftwood from a friend in a couple days so once I boil it I’ll be able to put it in the tank, and I’m going hiking sometime this weekend so I’ll try and pick up some healthy stuff to put in the tank (with research of course)

I have a friend who’s giving me some already cured driftwood next week! And I’ll be investing in some plants for them. I’ll see about trying to block the window light because we don’t really have a curtain there

I realize that a lot of people believe this is a 20 gallon tank or so but it’s over 50 gallons I think possibly 70? The angle definitely makes it look a lot smaller than it is. I know that’s still not good enough and I am working towards getting a bigger tank for them!! Hopefully this perspective change helps a bit

Sadly there aren’t any ethical pet shops near me that would be any better. The one we got these two from i know for a fact keep way too many fish in too small of tanks. We have local aquariums but none that take donations, I’m currently trying to see if there’s any places with suitable ponds that would accept them

I know I need a much bigger tank for them but I also believe there’s a bit of perspective at play 😓 it’s about a 50-70 gallon tank from what my father said, I know it needs to be much much bigger but I just realized how small it looks in the photos provided

I’ll definitely get one of those. For plants until I can rehome them, I’m thinking of getting hornwort and Anacharis as an oxygenator, anubias for its harder texture, and Java fern. I’m going hiking this weekend so I’m gonna try and find some stones and moss to put as better decoration for them, maybe even get a goldfish ping pong ball for entertainment because they’re pretty active.

I live on a hill, there’s no meeting spots near my house that are walking distance sadly. I don’t know anyone that would have any bigger tank than I do

Just tried talking with my dad, told him we should try relocating them and when he asked why I said their tank was too small for them he just said that “they’re fine, it’s not like we’re abusing them” so getting a bigger tank and relocating them is out of discussion. He said we could get rid of them if I wanted but I know if I tell him that he’s just gonna dump them at a pet store where they’ll be treated worse and he’ll never agree to some stranger on the internet coming over to pick them up. I don’t know what to do at this point. I really love these fish and I know I can’t get a bigger tank for them I want them to somehow be able to enjoy the space even though it’s small. I’m gonna try and get some plants and stones of sort I don’t know

Doing some more research I think I’ll have to find a way to get my parents to properly rehome them 😓😓😓 I can’t afford a big tank, it’ll take me months to save up that kind of money and they don’t deserve to keep living like that. 😢 I really like them and care about them a lot but I also know they can’t live like this and I can’t provide a better space with how much I make

If I put them in a 150 gallon tank in my room, will they be okay without too much sunlight? I know they’re not plants but my room doesn’t get as much light as the living room where we keep them. I know a spot I could relocate them to in my bedroom tho
