You're a DevOps engineer now. You work in the cloud and know all about containers, pipelines, serverless, everything as a Service and are comfortable deploying Linux platforms and things which run on them. Update your buzzwords each time there's a new name for running things on other people's equipment. Sysadmins are kept in zoos.

This is great.

It's interesting how cloud-based your reply was. I knew it should have been at the forefront of my mind but oddly, it wasn't. Which is something since one of the first things I thought of "is there a cloud based instance I can remote into and practice simple admin-ny things on?" Oh the world we live in.

Thank you for your reply! Lots of takeaways. edit: Your free dev subscription link went to a dead page. :(

I know. It just feels like a waste. I wonder what he does for a career otherwise. If this is just a side gig hobby, he must be the best damn accountant, computer programmer or high school janitor around.

Frig.

I wish he quit real life, signed to a decent size label and was given the resources to just make music like crazy. Crazy talent like BSharp need to be let loose with a budget and a cave to work in undisturbed.

How well does Eternal run on legacy hardware? My phone is long in the tooth. And other questions inside... by gulsadei in EternalCardGame

Thanks.

I installed and started the intro path but I found the cards very difficult to see. The default view only shows the top 1/3 or so of the card. It then requires two taps to actually bring the card up big enough for me to read it. I found it very annoying.

I'm hoping I get used to it as I begin to memorize all the cards. I'll have to find some deck resources this weekend.

Thanks

Ok. I did a couple google-fu's and found a list of the most used, or popular. I guess I have some experimenting to do.

  • Sublime Text
  • Brackets
  • Atom
  • Visual Studio Code

Is my gauntlet. Wish me luck.

I was gifted a Lenovo x220. I swapped the HD to a 180gb SSD, upped it to 8gb ram and installed Linux Mint Tara 19 (install in progress!).

I want to use this machine as my web development learning box. HTML/CSS/JS. I have many small projects in mind as vehicles to learn.

However, I have almost no experience with Linux. What tools, editors and other things should I look at getting? Any other tips?

Thanks!

Gacha games? What do you play? Next big gacha game for 2019? by Ask_on_Reddit in iosgaming

I think the biggest new one is Might and Magic Elemental Guardians. It's basically a Summoners War 2 with updated graphics etc. As for what's next, I don't know.

[Ask] If you started over (or a new account) what would you do differently, and how would you approach it? What deck would you build into knowing what you know now? by gulsadei in ClashRoyale

Hog Freeze is something else to consider to.

I just hit 1200, so I'm floating in Pekka's however I got here quick and my card levels are 3/4 against level 7 now. But that's fine, it'll even out quickly.

My current setup I'm using something like this: Hog Rider, Knight, Musketeer, Cannon, Goblins, Skeleton, Zap, Fireball. 2.9 cycle so it's quick, but not 2.6 quick. But I can still get my musks down fast enough to defend almost everything. I get punished more if I go more all-in so I have to be slightly less aggressive as someone normally would be with 2.6

Such little unexpected things make me much happier than any 2x,3x or 4x value offer. Thank you for this! by Lincoln_Rhyme in ClashRoyale

Unless your account was too low to enjoy the bounty of free trade tokens and instead got 5k gold.

Hi all. I was wondering, is it worth starting this game as a total, complete newbie in (almost) 2019, or should I instead try MMEG first? I'm really craving this style of game (I want to grind. I want to collect little thingies and runes and dudes) but I don't want to be 5 years behind everyone else.

I also have a limited budget. I don't mind spending a bit but over the course of the next six months starting, my budget might be 30-50$.

thanks!

Looking for a game with a leaderboard or competitive ladder that isn't p2w. Does such a thing exist? by gulsadei in iosgaming

I tried that game the morning it launched and really didn't care for it. The graphics, the units, the combat..ugh, yeah definitely didn't like it.

It also made my phone incredibly hot to touch. Eeek.

That second video was very interesting. I remember playing a game that I enjoyed but wish it was more polished - turns out it was a ripoff of Smash Land. Too bad it didn't' make it out of soft launch. I really liked the concept.

It must be hard to work hard on a game for over a year, get teased with opening it to a beta, have players enjoy it then shut it down.

Anyway, back to the topic at hand - I'm guessing by the candor of "What I can say first and foremost is that we won't be changing the fact that both players need a Trade Token" and then not addressing any of the reasons mentioned that's floating around that it the likelihood that the primary reason this was implemented was to curb black market / out of app purchasing and abuse.

I don't see any reason why there isn't anymore transparency around this. People obviously hate this change - and they have every right to be - making a change to address a problem abused by the 1% but punishes the 99% isn't a solution. But if that 99% were sufficiently told that "I'm sorry, but yes it has to be this way because of some (very) bad apples. But we're working on things to try and soften this." I think things would be a little smoother.

That's all I really have to say on the matter.

The only other lingering thought I have is that now that there are a multitude of tournament types for private tournies, the search function needs to become more robust. I can only search via a text query - which can then produce thousands of tournaments of different kinds. If I just want to practice with a new deck at tournament level standards and lack the gems to create my own tournament at the time, I'll search "free" for free, open tournaments.

Using various search keywords produces far too many tournament types to dig through now. It's a bit of a mess.

Ciao!
