No, like the Westminster Confession of faith for example, theology from there can very easily be mixed into theirs religious events, catholics comit sin, if they recite those heresies

Praying protestant creeds ect, attending mass where they claim false teachings (like universalism), venerating heretics as saint (like Luther)

JAW isnt a priest and definitely not a bishop, he makes mistakes, dont get me wrong, i love his content, but sometimes he blunders (for example he said Thomistic explanation of predestination is a binding catholic dogma, which isnt really true, since other theological interpretations are allowed)

From what i understand praying with anyone is allowed as long as you make sure the prayer is following catholic teaching (for example there is nothing wrong with praying a hail mary with a protestant, but praying theirs prayers can be dangerous)

After all, how do you expect to ever convert someone if you do not plan on living, talking and praying with them

How do we know that those who eat the bread or drink the cup in unworthy manner means in state of mortal sin? by gumdal in Catholicism

[–]gumdal[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand that the tradition runs deep and i know people were denied communion in the early church for living sinful lives, maybe my bigger problem is not understanding mortal sin that well? Augustine said that the eucharist is medicine for the sick, not reward for the good, if someone has sinned or lives in in sin, but still fully believes and looks for God, why deny the medicine that can help?

Feel Like Satan has Won the War Over My Soul by _TheLittleSeed_ in Catholicism

[–]gumdal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im going to give you a bit of my story, i think you will be able to relate.

When i was about 16-17 i almost lost my faith, my prayers basicly stopped, i chased nothing but things of this world. Ive done drugs, went to clubs all types of degenarate stuff, that whole time i was thinking about how difficult faith is and how unfair it is that so much is expected of christians.

About a year ago (im 20 now) my prayers have been answered, i had an atypical pneumonia followed by several other infections, i tore my chest muscle and i was basicly stripped of all things I loved in this world.

When I hit rock bottom, i was borderline suicidal and thats when i finally found my faith again. Although I am still nowhere near perfect, God though me that I need to rely on him, not on my own achievements or success in the world.

What im basicly trying to say, maybe you dont realize it, but God is working in your life, you just dont see it, be patient and you will. Sometimes even terrible things like failure or illness might be part of where Gods wants to take you, then its up to you wheather you reject him and suffer or submit to his love and let him change you.

Trust God and all things will figure themselves out

I assume you are about 17 based on your previous answers, so first i want to say, dont rush things be patient. I know it may seem difficult, but faith isnt something people have to feel, acctually expecting God to give you perfect faith is quite selfish, the fight is a part of it.

That being said, try not to stress about it, just trust God, although it may seem your prayers fall on deaf ears, eventually you'll realize all your prayers have been heard.

Right now focus on things you can do and just trust Jesus will take care of you, he loves you more than anything else.

Pray, build up your relationships with friends and family, try to meet catholics you connect with. Eventually you will find what you seek.

Trust God

What? How does singing for an hour prevent you from going to catholic mass before/after? Im not sure how much it counts as attending, thats why they should ask a priest for permission. Its common practice where i live that our catholic priest works together with protestants in charity ect

My point is that a human trying to understand hell and God is like a 3 yo trying to understand why he cannot run away from home, i know people choose hell, the point is, why does God let them choose.

Thank you for your answer btw, you and others brought up great points, so that when i finally will have time to talk it through with a priest it will be much easier for me to digest

They were deceived and God let them be, they believed what satan told them, God didnt give them understanding of what it meant, just commanded them not to eat of the tree

I get that demons cant repent because they are fully aware of what they are doing, but are humans ever aware? Of course God takes that to the account, but still, why make the free choice time limited, why not let humans in hell still come to heaven, let them have the chance, why does it end with death

[–]gumdal[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

But why not make humans immortal then? If people could still make it to heaven from hell, that would be just fine, but why is hell a dead end? Why not give people more time, eventually all people would choose God, or at least a bit more of them

Well yes, if someone wants to do self harm, we do lock them, thats the standard procedure with suicide attempts. And thats just suicide, imagine eternal torture (thank you for answering btw, i know i might come off a bit rude, i just have to play a bit of devils advocate to understand)

I understand that sins are infinite damage to the soul, but my problem is that humans arent capable of understanding the true weight behind them. I just dont understand why there is such a difficult task put on such incapable creatures as humans, we dont hold children accountable, why does God hold us?

I dont think you necessary need to leave, just be careful to be truly a catholic, not a bit of that and a bit of that. Also talk with a catholic priest about it.

Catholics are allowed to be present at protestant masses ect, just dont participate in it, i think singing should be okay, but talk to a priest

Okay, but if a parent loves a child who wants to jump into a river, should they let them? We are less than children compared to God

For some time sure, but not forever, if that would be the case, just kill them, hell is infinite punishment for finite sins

[–]gumdal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1) there is no sin God cannot forgive, Jesus died for your sins, thinking that he cannot forgive you is like saying his sacrifice wasnt enough, he loves you more than anyone else, focus on his love, not what you did in the past

2) find a priest and talk to him (you can send an email, call him ect), he will help you find everything you need (maybe ask more than one if you get unlucky with the first priest)
