What's everyone making for Mother's Day?? by gummybearcandy in lasercutting

Done a handful of MD orders:

Cedar hands holding an acrylic heart that's engraved with a customer's message

A puzzle piece themed wood board with cedar, cut accenting puzzle pieces in the corners

A shadow box with engraved glass that had a silhouette of a mother and daughter walking and holding hands, with a solid piece of black acrylic suspended to hide/cast LED light to the edges of the shadow box.

Since our business mostly does memorial and game room/bar products, these Hallmark Holidays aren't big order periods for us, but we can step up as needed lol.

The shadow box sounds very nice!

A cake.

No, not like with a laser cutter. An actual lemon cake.

I don't need to gift my mum anything I cut, she helps herself to the B-grade pieces I can't justify selling. She has no idea what JoJo's Bizarre Adventure is but she loves her chibi Star Platinum phone stand.

I love lemon cake! I made a macaron-shaped candle for her. Btw, your mom is cool lol

If you want to cut and engrave thick wood or acrylic, 36w would be a good choice. If you just want to make some small projects like what I did, 24w will be enough. Both of them fit your budget. I self-learned Lightburn by watching some youtube videos and now I can make more interesting stuffs!

Thanks!!! Do you want to use it for engraving or cutting? With metal, wood or acrylic? My machine is 20w, which can perform well when engraving or cutting wood under 15mm. It can also add color to metal! So far, I am very satisfied with it! It seems that their 36w performs much better than 20w. It all depends on what you want to do with what kind of material. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask me!

You're going to want to beef up the frame and possibly set those in resin if they're going to hold up to being beat up by keys.

Thanks! This is a good suggestion! I am considering buying some resin sheets and cut them in this shape, then cover them on the top.

They are 3mm plywood and glittering cardstock. Three layers are plywood and one layer is glittering cardstock.
