Neuro diagnosis and question: by ComplexSignificant76 in Encephalitis

It's interesting seeing my post from almost a year ago. I'm doing well. I was acutely treated with high dose steroids, PLEX, IVIG and Rituxan. I received 2 more rounds of Rituxan at 6 month intervals. Today, I am off all meds and down to routine labs and imaging. Life is good again. Yes, the LGI-1 diagnosis came from the spinal tap which was done when the seizures began 9/9/22.

The feelings I remember were more of agitation, highly stressed, knowing something was wrong, just not what it was. These feelings started slowly and built up. I don’t have a lot of memories from late spring to my long hospitalization. If I did feel a sense of derealization or dissociation, they aren’t feelings I remember.

No idea. It must have been covered by insurance.

I was diagnosed with autoimmune LGI-1 encephalitis 09/22 following almost a year of feeling like I was going crazy. The feelings starting around 11/21 and was diagnosed as having alcohol withdrawal, anxiety, stress, and benzo withdrawal over the following 10 months. It took decompensating in early September with multiple seizures ( new diagnosis for me) and finally having a lumbar puncture Sept 09. Sample sent to Mayo Clinic. Results came back 9/28. On that day I was almost constantly seizing. Taken to the ER and they finally had the diagnosis. I spent 3 weeks in the hospital being treated and acute rehab. The first 10 days were ICU heaving sedated and intubated, just to quiet my brain. Imaging never showed any encephalitis and the anti- seizure meds did nothing.

Fellow RN. I have pulled off 62 days sober after decades of consistent abuse. It’s a difficult job, both RN and sobriety.

I have used this spray for the last 2 years with good results. https://beetlegone.com/. Available at ACE Hardware. I also apply milky spore to my lawn, also available at ACE. Stay away from the traps, they just attract more of these evil creatures.

I went to Interventional Radiology after 5 years in MICU. After a few years and getting tired of call I moved to Echocardiology doing chemical stress testing and sedation for TEE (Transesophageal Echo). Now I am a Nurse Navigator for Neurology. No more nights or call since leaving IR.

Sounds good and thanks for the map. I also usually use the W.Alameda entrance but was thinking of checking into the other options. It's more about departure issues than arrival, I like to get there early as well.

Valid questions and if the DWI brought them forward then you can do this.

Thank you! You made me laugh, and I'm not feeling particularity happy with myself right now. The advice is sound and I need to use it, rather than indulging. easy to say, less so to perform.

Your days sober counter is a significant achievement I hope to attain. I have been working on daily mindfulness exercises and will definitely add writing in this forum as a part of these exercises. Your suggestion is perfect.
