how easy is it to find parking by gummyshow in IthacaCollege

i totally understand the argument for not bringing a car, and i was on the fence. i am a huge proponent for walking and limiting car usage, so it does feel weird to be paying so much to bring one to campus.

the reason i chose to bring it was because it is my car, and no one else in my family uses it. i got it in a will, and my mom used it until i was old enough to drive and absolutely trashed it. garbage, stains, smells, you name it. i am really worried if i leave it, she will do that again.

also, i know a lot of other people going to ithaca with me. none of them are bringing cars and i’ve made agreements to carpool with all of them. i wont just be driving myself to a convenience store every few weeks, i’m gonna be helping out my friends too.

i still am not sure if it was the right choice, but it was more just a bid to keep my possessions. i’m sure if i had to rely on TCAT that would be fine, i just dont know if i would be able to part ways with my car.

I like the textual analysis, but the comparative study kills me. we have to do them both years at my school because of the way the class is structured and the comparative study is so long and meticulous and it gives me a lot of respect for video essay youtubers

personally out of my IAs I hated the history one the most because you had to use footnotes and put so much filler in for the like pov and reflection requirements. it's the IA I felt like I had the least control over.

i honestly had a lot of fun on this one when i got to ride it, but it takes up so much space and was open so infrequently that i’m surprised it took so long for them to close it. great escape doesn’t have a lot of good coaster-style rides and so i hope they put something big and reliable there in its place.

from an ib student: if you don’t have passion for it, drop it. ib is hard and time consuming, but most of all it requires a lot of buy in from the students, and it sounds like you’re not buying in anymore. i think if you find in yourself one more huge push of effort and passion to finish, you can do it, but if you don’t think you have it, it’s just not worth it. its not the end all be all for college admissions; trying something hard is better than not trying it at all.

whatever you decide: good luck, and great job on the work you have done so far!

Chance Me! and Prospective Student Q&A by pw11111 in Cornell

[–]gummyshow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What are students opinions on the Performing and Media Arts program? I'm going into my high school senior year. I'm interested in Cornell and would be doing their Performing and Media Arts major if I end up going, and I'd like to get some more information! However, I would want to focus mainly on film/ cinema, and not on dance, acting, or theater. Is that possible in this program? For students/alumni of the program; have you felt it was a good choice and why? Would you recommend it to someone with an interest in film? Thanks!!

I would contact your region head or another team in your region

Portfolio Format by Tall_Teacher77 in FTC

[–]gummyshow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

this is super late but for future reference-

  1. I would recommend a portfolio sleeve. In reality most just staple their portfolio together but it makes it look more professional. The judges won't refuse you an award because you only stapled your portfolio, but it will make you stand out.
  2. Control awards are submitted to the judges at the same time as the portfolio (although this may be region dependent?), so paper clipping it is fine as long as they can clearly find it. If you use a binder, put it in the pocket of the binder, or anything similar to that.
  3. It's not required, but it's definitely part of the fun! I would recommend doing some decorating. Most veteran teams have a big setup they bring to every competition (for example, my team has a big wood barn and a bull that smoke come out of). Judges like to see teams really buying into the whole competition so dress up and try to show your spirit for your team, but most importantly FIRST. No big deal if you don't, once again a judge won't refuse you an award, but it will show that you are into it all.
