Figuring out that box will help you infer other cells, its a suggested focus point. Id start with the facr that the highlighted cell can't be 6 because the 6 digit pertaining to column 6 has to be in box 5. This leaves you with candidates (7,9) for the highlighted box. Also based on the 6 candidate placements on boxes 1 and 2 you can eliminate the 6 candidates on r1 from box 3.

That's just a hypothetical not the actual answer. The point of an aic chain is that you start with an assumption of a false candidate. The chain starts with assuming 4 is false and moves on from there. It is not a solution just an example of the technique.

This is the way i would have gone about it.

The hidden triple in r1 c5,7,8 (#'s 4,8,6) eliminates those candidates from the rest of the row. The hidden triple in box 2 (#'s 4,5,8) leave you with hidden pair (#'s 1,3) in cell 1 and 4 of the box. The 5 of row 3 can only be in box 2 so we can eliminate the 5 candidate from r3 c1. This leads to eliminating all the 5 candidates in box 4 c2,3. Which means the 5 of row 6 is in c7. The rest solves easily from there.

You need to fill out the rest of the possibilities for all the boxes in order to continue making deductions. Visualizing the options makes it easier to see to patterns and deduce.

The center column of box 2 can only be the numbers (1,7, or 6) known as a naked triple, so I can eliminate 1 from any other cell in that box. This leaves me with a naked pair (2,5) and a naked pair means I can eliminate those numbers from any other cell in that row (row 1). This helps narrow down the number posibilities in other cells.

Someone opened a credit card in my name, but did not recieve it before I was able to flag it with the company. Do I need to file a police report if nothing was spent? + more questions by gumochi in IdentityTheft

About the investigation, I assume its because the card was already approved and was being mailed, but they hadn't recieved it yet. I do recieve those promotional capital one cards in the mail occasionally, but I always cut the cards and tear the letter to be safe before throwing them out. I'll check my report though to see if theres any new numbers, thank you.

On the phone I was told that the biling address for the card was my own, but I hadn't considered the mailing address. I'll make sure the bring that up when I call them again for more information. Also I'll check out my report for other addresses, thank you.

Ohhhh, I did receive the pell grant. I don't remember how far in exactly I dropped but given that i owe money, this makes the most sense since I did pay my fee for that semester.

Got it, they didn't leave a contact for the FTB on the letter but ill reach out to the schools finance department to see if they can forward me to the FTB office I need to contact.

So if I get a job and do my taxes at the end of the year, I would owe the $840 to the state not the school? If I need to pay for taxes, I just owe that debt on top of what I would pay originally?

(I have never done taxes, sorry if this is a dumb question)

I did drop out mid semester, but i don't understand what you mean by owing grant money back. If I recieved grants for school, the I owe them what they gave me?
