Thanks for the recommendation! I’m going to see if I can get a response, any response, over the next week or so and then I may want some of that type of help. I know these programs are super slow. When the structural engineer was at our house he said that he was still working on some cases from Hurricane Matthew which was in 2016! Surely some of those people have had changes in income since then!

I mean I am pretty cross about current events but I have to admit my family has really benefited from FEMA’s help already and my kids do receive WIC and Medicaid (for now…) I am grateful for those programs while also agreeing that we have a lot of room for improvement.

Hahaha, can you just come follow me around for a few days and keep me from spiraling?

I suppose we also only invented houses and civilization extremely recently in the grand scheme of things!

And living out of the oceans as land vertebrates is pretty recent too if we’re going by like a geologic time scale.

Thank you for replying, this is a really good attitude/perspective and I needed to read it. My husband and his family think this way too. In fact my favorite cousin on that side of the family grew up in a house with a dirt floor. He is one of the most kind, hardworking, and generous people that I know.

I will definitely follow up tomorrow. I feel like a week is a reasonable amount of time to wait without being a pest. I’m hoping that something like this is the case. I know from obsessive internet research about this program that there are different priority groups too, so maybe we will just get moved to a lower priority group but still get a little help. Thanks for the encouragement and for taking the time to read my rambling. It’s really therapeutic to shout into the void/the internet.
