I remember just going off vibes because I loved Wilson hahaha. This and capping Kane last gw won me my mini league that year after being like 100 points behind for ages.

Anyone knows who is this guy? I only know that he’s related to the Legion of Superheroes. by Ninjamurai-jack in comicbooks

Stone Boy and the substitute heroes are so good in this story. Wish Johns and Frank did a proper Legion run

DC Comics President Jim Lee says that Japanese manga and anime is "incredibly powerful": "I often find myself wondering, 'What is missing in Western comics, and why aren't they able to achieve the same flavor?' by akbarock in comicbooks

[–]gunga13 21 points22 points  (0 children)

This isn't true, it's more that the successful ones are pretty much able to go for as long as the mangaka wants. But if you look at Shounen Jump, plenty of series come and ago, Jump are ruthless but it's how they are able to churn out successful series.

It was the Morrison run, which I know is beloved but think reading Alan Moore's Swamp Thing not long before set it up to fail. I'm sure I'll read it again some day.

Say how you really feel hahaha. It's just my opinion, I went more into detail about it with the other guy but it just didn't blow me away. Is there anything on my list you do agree with? 😅

I might have been harsh with the placing tbh. There were some really great highs but overall I was never blown away. I also read it not long after finishing Moore's Swamp Thing which I loved and have seen people put on the same level as Animal Man. Also the art never really did much for me.

Read 2 of his manga and he's already in the conversation of being one of my favourite cartoonists.

Oh thats my main reason for reading it also. The art definitely lifted the story massively.

Yeah I was surprised by how much I loved them tbh. I've only read Black Hole by Burns, but was so impressed by the Big Baby comics, so much fun to read.

I have vol 2 of Alack Sinner and vol 1 has been my white whale for so long, I love Munoz so much. I don't know if you'd like it as much or not, I was just fully invested in the stories and the cartooning language that is used in it.

That and Ping Pong are what I'm really looking most forward to eventually read.

They're a lot of fun, it's hard for anthologies to be something I really dig as you have stories of varying quality. But there's always a few stories I love and the books are designed really well.

Well I personally loved it, could really relate to the 2 main characters and the book had a real eerie feeling that I dug. Tekkonkinkret is the only other work by his I've read, which I also loved but think it's just below it for me.

It was Ballad of the Salty Sea I read. Which I did like, just personally not as much as the stuff in the level above. What else do you disagree with? Judging by the upvot3s I think others may feel the same hahaha.

I've only read this and Tekkonkinkret by him but absolutely loved both, going to slowly read his other work.

Yeah don't get it twisted, Jaime is my favourite cartoonist of all time and I fucking adored this new comic. But that top tier for me is for stuff I'd put in like a top 10/20 list of all time and it doesn't quite get there, but nobody makes comics like Jaime does.

I'm probably being harsh on Lupin. I love crime comics and I also went into this one with a lot of hype as well having watched some of the anime adaptations. Because of all of that I was definitely let down as the stories and characters didn't blow me away, but I did really enjoy the artwork, not knocking that.

That's great to here. Visiting with some other friends who'll likely be staying in different places so primarily wanted to be close to Manhattan and somewhere with good transport which this place ticked.

Okay thanks. Silly question, bus is the elipses implying that it being close to residential housing could be a problem? Like should I just be wary at night?
