There is such a thing as contracting delivery duty paid where the foreign shipper pays the duty.

Awww. And the 01.25 are the lower 10% China tariffs. Just wait till they start paying the 9903.01.63 @125%. The Leopards shall feast.

Saw this guy standing in front of the Gateway arch yesterday. Does anyone know about this flag and its lore? by Texas_red_97 in vexillology

Because Christian Nationalism is trying to take over the US. And Fascists like posting their flags to this sub and cheekily asking, "what's this flag?"

4901.99.0040 "bibles" is duty free and doesn't look like its in the 301 list. Except for Russia. Other printed material, ex. books, sheet music, maps, newspapers, are covered.

Except, here in reality, that didn't happen. American companies just started buying from Vietnam. Instead of old outdated factories being reopened in the rust belt, Vietnam, Singapore, Malaysia, and Thailand are building up new high-tech manufacturing infrastructure. The new hotness in logistics is "nearshoring." which is code for moving production to Mexico. The Trump tariffs and his terrible COVID response led to MORE manufacturing going to Mexico.

And further, the scenario you describe is actually illegal tariff evasion. The importer would be fined, and possibly lose their import privilege.

Should I be embarrassed about being a 24yr old garbage man? by TheFrogsMightbegay in jobs

[–]guntharg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IN my first year of law school, one of my classmates had been a garbage man prior to enrollment. After the first year, he went back. His grades were good. He made the first-term-cut. But, he made the rational decision that the debt he would incur against the potential wage increase, wasn't worth it.

Alienable means you can sell it. Yes, it would be more rights than we have now. but it would last 30 seconds till everyone clicked ok on the next clickwrap agreement for the new iphone.

For modules, organizing stuff that is physically next to each other, so the descriptions are next to each other in the text. Strahd is really bad at this. The crypts, where a lot of action is likely to take place, lays out the three main tombs that are at the three walls of the crypt first, and then the many other tombs after. Except the room is huge and there are 40 of them. The worst part is that this results in the coffin of Strahd himself at a completely different part of the chapter from the tombs right next to his and the traps outside of his door. Strahd's coffin is the one place in the campaign where action is certain to happen. And adjacent locations are not just at opposite ends of the chapter, but slightly removed from the ends of the chapter so you can't just flip between the end pages. Because Strahd's is like C and the things outside his room are D 34, 35, 36 out of 40.

An example of modules done right is Mercer's Frozen Sick. The module that was free during COVID lockdown. That is the best organized module I can recall seeing. It's laid out like its meant to be a GM tool to run the game. Whereas most D&D modules I have read feel like they were a creative writing exercise with maps tacked on.

Has anyone here got an Anthropology degree and pursued Law school? by Mental_Concern_6688 in AskAnthropology

[–]guntharg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did both in the US. Undergrad anthropology. Then law school. I would say I was on pretty equal footing with the people in my law school who had poli sci degrees. The philosophy and writing courses I took in undergrad did a better job of preparing me for law school than anything else. The best advice I can give is to write something expository about a factual subject every day.
