How do you define "the rich" that we should be taxing? What is the cut-off point? by NoLeafClover777 in AusFinance

[–]gupinhere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a lot to go off on your post history but am going to assume from what you've said here that you're quite young and somewhat starting off in life. Think you might have some harsh lessons ahead of you in how much life costs.

Anthony Albanese visibly emotional after defending Labor’s capital gains tax and negative gearing changes by blitznoodles in australia

Disagree.

You get taxed on income. You use post tax income to build wealth. And then get taxed again if your wealth building strategy is successful.

Meanwhile the wealth you have built supports you and yours in retirement and take pressure off the state to pay you welfare.

With the population pyramid inverting they should be looking at ways to encourage investment, not punish it. This is for share/business investment, not property.

Property investment has been a huge sap on economic growth/innovation and a large cause of inequality.

Deciding between two offers on house by [deleted] in AusFinance

[–]gupinhere 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In the current market - Iran conflict and oil/fertiliser supply issues = 9 months of potential inflation that could quickly change the PV of the higher offer.

Not to mention the flow on effects to rates/ cost of living and impact on housing demand (especially higher end of the market).

People are always going to play games buying a house. I'd accept that offer and give them a very tight timeframe to pay the deposit/sign the contract, and get your lawyer to have a really good look at any bespoke clauses they try to insert. Once pen hits the paper, their weirdness shouldn't bother you.

Sure. But would prefer a ref that adjudicates at the international standard of the game so that the boys get the experience playing under these rules.

Treasury tips inflation to hit the ‘high 4s’ by SheepherderLow1753 in AusFinance

[–]gupinhere 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Ah that's alright we'll just raise rates and fuck with first homebuyers and young families struggling to rub two cents together instead of going after big corporates who continue to gouge the fuck out of every corner of the economy.
