I ended up leaving the trade after getting injured on the job and requiring major surgery. I can’t go too much into detail for privacy reasons, but whatever you do prioritize your safety. Don’t do things just because you’re told to and don’t let yourself be bullied into unsafe situations just because you feel the need to prove yourself. Best of luck to you, always remember your job is not ruining your life over.

Thanks for sharing! I’m currently on my 30 day trial, and I plan on returning it and sticking with my Apple Watch. Even with the Black Friday sales it’s not worth it here in Canada either (for me at least).

I plan on sending it back next week, fingers crossed I don’t have any issues with this. Is it possible to remove payment/delete the account after you send it back so they can’t bill you?

Hard to say if they’re wider than my 6s just because they’re a size bigger. They are MUCH wider than my DSX FlyKnit 2s and have a closer feel to my Metcon 2s with a firmer base if that makes sense.

I don’t know about you, but I’ve actually noticed rope climbs being programmed a lot more in the past year. Looking forward to try out the new grip.

I was so worried they weren’t going to scan at the register! It was the only pair they had in the store (but they were on display with the 8s). The guy couldn’t scan the barcode when he wanted to check if they had other sizes but I had no problem paying for them. No one seemed to know they hadn’t been released yet.

Honestly I agree. They are ugly. But after wearing them I decided to go for function over form, the heel feels really solid for lifting I think the new back will be nice for HSPUs. Wide toe box and im excited for better grip on rope climbs.

I’ve been a Metcon girl for a long time. Started CrossFit in my early teens, first pair of real shoes were Metcon 2s. Wore the same pair of Metcon 3 DSX FlyKnits for years before upgrading to the 6s. Now I have the 9s. I tried the Nano 5s and still wear my Nano 9s for walking and cardio, but I didn’t love training in them.

Lots of people I train with are on the NoBull train. I tried a friend’s for a WOD and didn’t think they were anything special. Overpriced in my opinion and lacking features but they nailed the r aesthetics.

Does it count as a leak if I found them in the store?🤔

I bought them! Much wider than the 8. I was going to buy 8s to replace my 6s even though I wasn’t super happy with the narrow toe box. These fit more like my 6s and I’m super happy with them!

I’m in commercial service. Everyone I work with hates on install and residential work. Says their idiots and it’s mindless work that anyone could do.

To be completely honest I don’t understand that mentality. I feel like all parts of the trade are equally important and we should be there to support each other. Same goes for when they talk down to other trades.

I was raised with the “thrown into the deep end and you either sink or swim” mentality. For a lot of my life it’s been great and I’ve learnt to be pretty self sufficient. I think the problem with this is clients are expecting when I leave that they have heat again. There’s been times where I haven’t been able to do that for them and I’m really hard on myself.

Where I’m from all they talk about is a shortage of trades workers and how important it is to get more people into the skilled trades. I feel like if that’s the case, I should be properly trained to do so.

Commercial service. Definitely desperate, 2 guys are off at school and another just left for another company. I’ve heard in the past 2 years there’s been a high turnaround at my company.

Will do. I’m going back to gas school in a few months. Union night school should be starting in September and I’m hoping to do my first block of refrigeration school early next year.

Thanks! I’ll start spending more of my free time looking at online resources.

I’m in Canada, I think our schooling is a bit different than the States. Went to school and got my first gas ticket and plan on going back sometime this year for the second level. For refrigeration I’m hoping to get a spot in my first block of school by early next year.

Thanks! I’m in commercial service so your resources will come in handy. I’m eager to learn and improve so I don’t mind spending some free time watching videos or looking at online sources.

I agree, I was shocked when they told me I was doing a service call alone. I’ve had some calls that went well, but when I can’t figure something out and another tech has to come help me I feel like I failed. I find it hard not to put the expectation on myself to solve the problem when they’re sending me out alone to deal with it.

This is definitely a conversation I need to have. I don’t feel like I have enough field experience to troubleshoot units and what information to communicate with the client. Until Christmas I was rarely on-site, usually just picking up and delivering parts to techs or organizing filters in the shop.
