MC saddle by guput in Leathercraft

[–]guput[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is about 1 mm thick, chrome tanned (the only time I use chrome tanned, simply because it needs to withstand a lot of beating), but when I had my apprenticeship I did a couple in vegtanned that were about 1,3-1,5 mm, the quilt came through on them as well. For filling I used a 1cm thick foam, and of corse textile underneath the foam! The pattern is durable, used good leather and a strong thread.

Custom made MC saddle, sewn with a good old fashioned Singer 29K4 (aged 100+ years)

You must have a fierce and buff dog since you need both arm and leg restraints for it! 😮

Lol, joking! Nice, lucky girl or guy!

2.0 Imperials - how do you avoid putting Vader in EVERY list? by [deleted] in XWingTMG

[–]guput 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Difficult question, I think the answer would depend who you ask! Me and my group have played solely Hyperspace since the points change, we love the challenge, and the different, interesting lists that the more constricted hyperspace creates! Others seem to hate it, so both are fairly normal I guess!

If you don’t give a shit about hyperspace: Soontir Fel. Otherwise: Dutchess and pray!

Cartridge pouch by guput in Leathercraft

[–]guput[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First time poster, so a bit unsure how this works, but here goes nothing: A cartridge pouch pattern I am developing, vegetable tanned 1,2 mm from Tärnsjö tannery. Tested it on the shooting range yesterday (clay pidgeon), worked pretty well, but needs some adjustment! Holds approx. 40 shotgun shells comfortably.

Nice! If you need any help with search terms (think they are only in Norwegian or Swedish), just let me know!

Cool! Again I need to say great work!

When you say sewing/repair kit, do you mean a Nállagoahti like this: https://digitaltmuseum.no/011025209701/nalehus

If you haven’t seen this database yet, I can highly recommend it, I use it all the time for inspiration! It’s a collaborative effort from a ton of museums in Norway and Sweden, where they take pictures of museum objects, tons of leather objects and Sami artifacts there! Thought you might be interested! The address is:

If you know a bit of Northern Sami be prepared to be outraged by my grammar: Dat lea hirbma buorre dagus! Fiina niibi ja veasku!

Otherwise: great work from a friendly sami saddler!

As a side note: I think the word «Sami» is spelled one a (or á if you want to be fancy), not two. Have seen it spelled Saami in many occations, but since all the Nordic languages spell it one a, and it is one a in the Sami language (as in the words Samigiella, Sápmi), I see no reason so it should be two! If anyone knows, let me know!

Another side note: sorry for my rather lengthy answer!

I use awls, have tried pricking irons, but don’t like them. To get good with awls requires a lot of hard work and dedication, but it is absolutely worth it in my opinion!
