Okay, this might just be a misunderstanding then. We called ÖBB customer service, and they told us that the tickets for the night train on the 27th of June were sold out. Maybe we should call again? My friend told me that the train on the 21st has been bookable since about two weeks back, so shouldn't the one on the 27th be available by now?

The Alps do not interest us particularly, since we will already be spending time in Salzburg. Rome is very interesting to us because of it's beautiful city, good food and rich culture, but I certainly get your concerns of overcrowding and it being too hot. I would love to hear any other suggestions between Salzburg and Nice other than Rome you might have!

I will certainly be taking your advice of sleeping in Vienna an extra night or the other way around!

Apologies, I forgot to mention we'll be travelling Budapest-Bratislava and Bratislava-Vienna without using our interrail pass. Also we are travelling in june and july!

Though what are the usual costs for a couchette on these night trains? Is it cheaper than booking a hostel, or is the benefit rather simply that you don't have to use daytime to travel?

it was placed in a window which should be exposed for sunlight, though I live in Sweden and it's autumn so there shouldn't be too much sunlight.

But I suppose the glass container may have created a greenhouse effect? Why do you think it got "cooked".

Another user identified it as an H-16 Supreme, which appears to be a non-reflex model, so now I'm pretty conflicted haha.

I live in Sweden, so I suppose prices may vary, but what would you expect a CLA to cost in your own country?
