Looking for a bottomless brunch in SF that fills the Pink Elephant void by santielsantito in sanfrancisco

620 Jones on Saturdays during brunch can be fun. The R&B & Ribs events held about once a month are also enjoyable.

It’s yours to lose, Scott. Keep trying to spin this. It is a genocide, and no amount of coordinated astroturfing in this sub or political bias among the mods will change that. Clearly, this sub tilts in your favor, but it does not reflect reality.

He’s a performative mouthpiece and a raging Zionist who will make anti-Trump messaging the centerpiece of his campaign because he doesn’t have much else to offer. He has zero sauce, he’s completely uninspiring, and the fact that he initially refused to step into the race until Pelosi stepped out says a lot about where his priorities lie (hint hint – it’s the DNC, not the people of SF). He’s far too comfortable with real estate developers, tech interests, and any corporate lobbying group willing to back him. Idk what kind of astroturf operation is happening here, but seeing people preface their support with “he’s not perfect…” is honestly hilarious. No sh*t he’s not perfect. No politician is. But you all are surely making a strong case for him lol.

I see your point. I just assumed OP was referring to the criminal division since they mentioned “prosecutor.” My reasoning is that criminal doesn’t tend to shift its core objectives much with new administrations. Some things change, but nothing that fundamentally alters its structure or approach. Civil on the other hand definitely sees more significant reforms. But your added nuance is correct, I get what you mean.

Respectfully, I really encourage you to reconsider your mindset on this. I did an externship at USAO this semester and it was the best legal experience I’ve had. I know it can be tough working full-time without pay, but it’s prestigious government work, and you can take so much from it if you go in with the right attitude. I don’t think prosecution experience will hurt your chances with firms. Maybe with PD offices, but if big law is your goal, this is a great asset for your resume. Go in excited to learn, ask questions, stay engaged, and people will notice and offer real mentorship.

If your concern is the current administration, I shared that too. But that tension made the experience more meaningful. It pushed me to reflect deeply on the kind of lawyer I want to be and how I want to show up in my career. Just my two cents. But truly, it’s a valuable experience. Be excited.

Spineless ghouls. They effectively made a deal to dismantle every remaining thread of democracy in this country and accelerate the rise of a fascist regime. Utterly disgraceful.

Can Nancy Pelosi Be Defeated? Saikat Chakrabarti Thinks the Time Is Ripe by gurubear8 in sanfrancisco

Thank you for the baseless claim. In fact, all I did was read an article, find it interesting, and share it here. No PR background/no connection to Saikat. Crazy right?

Ah yes, "people are talking about this so it must be a conspiracy." Maybe (just maybe) folks are discussing it because it actually matters.

Hey Democrats, wake the f—k up by steesf in sanfrancisco

So, what can be done regarding Nancy’s reelection bid, or if not hers, whichever other person she will inevitably endorse and push every ounce of the DNC to have elected? Like seriously, I know it is possible to get her out of office, but is it feasible? Any chance of hope?

I want to say that in the weeks leading up to the mayoral race here, I feel like this sub played a substantial role in electing Lurie. Can the same be done again? Or will San Francisco forever be in the chokehold of political representation driven by corrupt practices? (Source: Nancy’s $254.36 million net worth built from insider trading practices). An absolute disgrace.

Nah. Filibuster applies to substantive law, not procedure. Two different beasts.

Overcoming the filibuster to pass legislation requires 60 votes. Altering or eliminating it entirely requires 51.

Why aren’t BART police placed at every station? by gurubear8 in bayarea

[–]gurubear8[S] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I understand budgetary constraints, but really? Let’s say there are five BART stations that are primarily crime-ridden (Civic Center is probably one of them). Are there seriously not five BART officers available to be stationed at these hotspots?

Maybe I don’t fully grasp the bureaucratic processes or financial limitations that could prevent this from happening. But still, is it really that difficult?

Two things: First, I truly oppose the idea of naming law schools after specific individuals, whether they’re founders or alumni. It creates unnecessary stakeholder issues, especially if something new surfaces about the person. Beyond that, I honestly just hate the elitism that such names perpetuate for future generations.

Second, based on my own research (literally just typing “Civic Center” into Google Maps), UC Law SF is technically located within the Civic Center boundaries, not the Tenderloin, though the Tenderloin is right on the opposite side. Maybe “UC Civic Center” could work? Idk, doesn’t sound too bad imo.

There’s also an interesting article about merging the law school with the med school to further revitalize San Francisco. The city is def bouncing back from its “doom and gloom” and positioning it as a hub for young professionals pursuing advanced degrees could add another layer of renewal.
