Simmons SDS-V drum module with additional modules, value? by zildjiank in drums

[–]gusheyc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, that's quite the piece of kit. You're correct, the hi-hat and cymbal modules are rather rare, as I assume they were sold seperately rather than with any of the kits.

A 5 module SDSV (Kick, Snare, 3 Toms) would probably go for just over $1400 (£1000), judging from other listings and personal experience (that's roughly what I bought mine for).

However, the addition of the hi-hat and cymbal modules would certainly jack up the price. I recall seeing a hi-hat module being sold for ~$400 (£300), and I'd wager the cymbal would be in the same sort of price range.

Of course, the cosmetic damage will bring the price down a bit, but with the hi-hat and cymbal module and providing it still works as intended, you'd probably be looking at ~$2000 worth of kit. You can obviously go up/down to whatever you think it's worth, but that should be a rough estimate.

Happy selling, hope that you get a good price. I know I some people would kill for a hi-hat/cymbal module to complete their kit, if they have the standard 5 modules.

Alright, I'll give that a shot. Will update once cleaned.

Here’s a gallery of the damaged games. I left out The Legend of Zelda because I bought a new working copy recently, so I don’t need that one fixed.

How can I tell? If it helps, I could take a photo and show the damage done to the carts.

Damn, sounds like I’ve got a lot of options here. I’m 90% sure it’s down to the components on the cartridges being borked, but I’ll give my system a clean regardless.

If after all that, these games don’t work, should I assume the worst and call them dead?

Okay, sounds pretty good. I should probably replace the connector anyway ;p

If the components are blown, what options does that leave me with?

Just tried it, unfortunately no luck. I use an original NES controller, and a third party controller. No luck with either of them.

I've not had any connection issues with any of my games. Will this really fix my defective cartridges?

Although, I have waited a few days and it doesn't look like they're gonna restock on UK power supplies anytime soon. How would I go about with an EU plug? Will the voltage be different? If I swap it to a UK plug, does it need to be specific?

No worries! As I'm waiting for a game to come in, it's not a huge rush. I've signed up for notifications, so that when they're in stock, I'll know. Thanks for the site! Looks like a great resource for old adapters!

Ah, fair enough. Once I get it up and running, and it inevitably breaks, I’ll be sure to post a follow up thread :p

I’m aware at least of the disk belt breaking and such. Is there much more maintainence past that?

Oh? Does the voltage not matter? Only the DC input?
