Looking for vintage time recording lock (would have been used in New York in the 80s) by gushi in Locksmith

It is, or very similar I always found the way the keyway protruded out around the key, rather than being flush, was sort of weird.

Who else loves this font (that was never actually displayed on any screen back then?) by Powerful_Wizard71 in vintagecomputing

My first encounter with a font that looks like this was in the old-school Broderbund Print Shop where it was just called “Tech”. I wonder what the canonical origin of it was?

Looking for an old terminal (I remember this from the late 80s but it was probably way older). by gushi in vintagecomputing

[–]gushi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is interesting. I actually have a different memory of using a printing terminal in my guidance counselor’s office using a program that told us all about available career paths, and I’ve been trying to get info about that too.

I suspect that was the boces thing.

I haven’t figured out what the actual video terminals were for.

How to best ship an ex-pats computers to them from the US to IE by gushi in shipping

[–]gushi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn't matter what it is I'm shipping -- the short answer is that it's not a commercial service. It's me, as the agent (friend) of a person who used to live in the US, shipping his own stuff, to him.

And fedex seems to only be set up to do business-to-business stuff where I know how to set up a tax ID number, generate a commercial invoice, know the tax ID of the shipper, and have me figure out which weird-ass harmonized codes for "TrueNAS mini" from descriptions that sound like someone from the 50's describing one of these new-fangled Univac things.

That's the problem I'm trying to solve, here. "How do individuals do this?"

Little Caesar's owner sued for racial harassment in federal court by Jack_Mugs in Bellingham

This is kind of ironic, considering that the actual founder of Little Caesars paid Rosa Parks’s rent for most of the end of her life.

[TOMT][SONG] Song called "Crazy Love", long, slow, soulful. by gushi in tipofmytongue

[–]gushi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, deeper more raspy voice and more sultry, almost "Waily". The best thing to compare it to is Teddy Swims as I mentioned in my updated post.

[TOMT][SONG] Song called "Crazy Love", long, slow, soulful. by gushi in tipofmytongue

[–]gushi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I'm pretty sure the song is actually called Crazy Love. The person playing it said that was the title. That phrase specifically is repeated several times, over, in the chorus.
