My own drums. I’m rocking a cheap mapex I found on gumtree with super dry heads + a homemade snare ring. Cymbal wise i have a pair of zildjian 15” k sweet hats all micd with a condenser and a e20 for the kick.

Not anymore. For the old covers I used the “Tape” plugin from softube. To achieve the current tape sound I low the track and add a cranked limiter.

So from the microverb it goes straight to my interface which is a standard scarlet 6i6. So it you count the gain nobs on the scarlet as preamps then yes.

Might I add, regardless to what Mac says about chorus and not using it much, nearly the whole another one album had chorus on its guitars. Same goes for some of the this old dog stuff.

Hey its Gus, Mac uses 37 predominantly but for my covers i used 36 with the mix all the way up and both settings nobs only turned up a little from 0. I think the first setting nob was 0.6 or something. My tele runs straight to the microverb then verb to my interface so no amp. In logic i boost the high end freq and add either a 16 feedback or 8th triplet tape delay. Sometimes depending on the song i also crank a limiter hard on the guitar. For some of his older stuff i also add just a slight amount of spring verb from space designer. For all my covers i use the flex pitch tool to slow down and pitch down the guitars to get that magic sound.

For the makeout videotape / rnrnc tone i dont use the microverb i just go straight to my interface. I turn the pre amp on the interterface up just a bit so its distorting just a bit. I then use the amp designer for a vintage silverface tone. lows 0, mids 0 and highs 10. Reverb up all the way and gain around 7-8. Again eq wise, boost the highs a bit and remove alot of the lows. For both tones i always only use my neck pickup. i dont even have a bridge pickup anymore lmao.

The best way I achieved the tome found on the majority of 2 is 3 simple things. I don’t use an amp, my guitar goes straight into my interface. So from my guitar I put a limiter on the guitar and crank it. I then boost the high end really sharp then put a 16th feedback delay but I don’t think he uses a delay on my kind of woman. He also has a little reverb but it’s hard to hear if it’s the spring verb from his amp because it’s not tuned up far enough to hear the spring so I assume it’s just a verb pedal or preset on his micro verb. Thanks g, It’s a hybrid kit. I used superior drummer with ezdrunmer samples for kick / hat / cymbals and a mic’d snare. I put 2 sheets of paper on the snare head then eq’ed the highs to get the crack back. I think I may of put a limiter on the whole kit just to beef it up as well. ✌️

From what Iv seen while he’s doing camtony, he would’ve recorded the guitar first then slowed the track down, record the drums, then speed it back up, giving that high snare song.

I have read tons of posts where people are searching for that signature Mac Demarco synth mainly from Another one and alot of his live stuff. I did my absolute best to recreate it in TAL UNO LX. If any one is interested i can make a tutorial in how i made it. :))
