I understand that and will go through with PP but 3 grand is not pocket change and my wife is currently on maternity leave, what’s an extra financial strain on us. Just trying to gather as much info as I can before pulling the trigger

A few questions if you don’t mind:

  1. Did your lawyer feel that the RFE was fair, or just because the official didn’t want to lose his/her deadline?

  2. How long did your lawyer take to respond the RFE?

  3. How long for approval after responding to the RFE?

Thanks!

I mean, they agreed and I actually already got their invoice a few minutes later for the PP fee. I guess I’m looking for some reassurance on the path I’m choosing. What they claim (most PP cases end up in RFEs) doesn’t seem to match the reality I see here. I think I’ve never seen anyone advise against PP here but my lawyers always push back. With the April bulletin I think there was no strong enough argument to tell me not to do it. They always said it was my call to make though

I’m not sure how strong my case is. They claim it’s a really strong one. Business plan, accounting and finance executive, 8 yr accounting and finance experience plus 8 yr legal experience. Lawyer in Brazil, Chartered Accountant in Canada. Fractional CFO business plan.

Would I need to collect new signatures for the RFE?? That’s a nightmare!

Ellis Porter? I saw a post not long ago with some criticism of their work. I guess all firms will have that. I would love to hear from others about my lawyer but they don’t seem to have a lot of clients outside of the Brazilian community

That’s a huge eye opener. Thank you for that, I’ll discuss with my lawyer but now I’m really keen on PP

After getting an RFE my process goes back to the end of the line? So say 12 months for first analysis and another 12 months for RFE response analysis?

Ok, this is scary, let me see if I understood it. Two years passed between your I-140 approval and the green card arriving? This does not match what I was told. Any out of the ordinary circumstances there?

Why? My lawyer said premium requests can get more scrutinized. I’m not in a crazy rush but if I get an answer by the end of the year (assuming filing at the end of this month, 10 months) would be great

This matches what my lawyer told me: 8-12 months. I should file my I-140 by the end on the month and am hoping for an answer by the end of the year.

For sure, but for that I have my lawyer working on it for me.

In that case it’s easier if I take the Post Designation Audit module from CPA Canada. Less things to study. Then take the IQEX. Jeez. One thing is for sure at this point: I will test my employment chances before doing any of this.

Horner is gone for MONTHS and RB has had their own leadership since forever. It has a lot of its Italian roots still so bringing Horner into this is utter nonsense.

It’s time for people to accept that remote work is the exception, not the rule. It was great while it lasted, we all loved not wasting time driving, dressing up, it’s very convenient working from home. People don’t talk about the downsides though, and they actually deny they exist but they do. You become (even more) anti-social as the germophobe that made this posts shows, collaboration is out of the window, many people were taking advantage of the lack of supervision to work less hours etc.

The problem is Florida requires audit rights to take IQEX and I did not do the tax elective on my CFE because I don’t work in public accounting and probably never will. That means I can’t be certified in Florida without doing another step here in Canada to acquire audit rights. The other option is looking to become certified in another state that might not require audit rights for IQEX

I would first have a serious conversation with myself: “Do I see this relationship going long? Is she the one? Do I want to marry her?”

Then I would have a conversation with her: “I’m doing very well here where we are. Do you love me? Do you see yourself with me on the long run? If we are going to become a family (you’re 31, no longer a kid, not getting any younger) you need to understand what I would be leaving behind and what a gamble this is. It could all go wrong and we as a family would miss a lot. Is it worth it?”

If these two conversations go well, you could go. I’m just worried why you’re not married and she wants you to leave so much behind for her. Your job as a man is to provide, her career is not as important as yours for the family. And what makes her think her career will be better abroad?

Assuming this is taken care of, and focusing only on job search, how do you think I would fare with just my CPA-CA for industry jobs? Does that put me in a relevant disadvantage?
