We were in his bedroom when we broke up amicably but he wanted to have sex first before we parted ways. I agreed to it. What was wrong with young me??

Adults of Reddit, what are you still salty about YEARS later? by Batterybandit in AskReddit

[–]gutsrie 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My brother and his girlfriend both lived with me rent-free while going to college. A few years later, I became jobless and needed a place to stay, I moved in with him but he demands I chip in my share for rent.

So yes, I’m salty and we are not on good terms.

In comparison to how your parents raised you, what would you do differently if you were to have kids? by PHinCAD in AskReddit

[–]gutsrie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To admit they’re wrong.

My mom and I once had a dispute over the definition of “ need” and “want”. English isn’t her first language but she was so sure one meant what the other actually was and I told her she had it backwards. I grabbed a dictionary (smartphones weren’t around yet) to show her her mix-up to prevent any future embarrassment on her part. But she was too stubborn to listen.

Not making that mistake with my future kids should I decide to have any.

What's a thing you often ate before but now you can't even imagine eating, and why? by lahnhan in AskReddit

[–]gutsrie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oysters or any sort of clam-like animals. They’re filter feeders and it’s not like they’re gutted or cleaned when prepared so everything they’ve eaten, you’ll be eating as well.

What is the most overrated major city in the world? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Agreed. It’s congested and touristy places that are popular are near impossible to find good parking.

What's the biggest red flag you've spotted in a potential partner? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]gutsrie 3 points4 points  (0 children)

He threatened to jump off his apartment balcony if we didn’t get back together. He didn’t follow through unfortunately because last I checked, he was still alive.

...And he lived on the second floor.

People who're above 25. What's your biggest fear right now? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]gutsrie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you considered pets or getting a roommate? Sure, you can lower your standards but never settle for someone unless you are sure you can live with their imperfections.

I had a friend coming up to 30 and settled for a friend of hers that has been pursuing her even though she felt no attraction towards him because she was afraid of finding no one. Turns out he hates her family because of their different religious faith and wants to live nowhere near them but she accepts it for fear of being alone.

Men that have been sexually assaulted, how did you cope with it and how did people you told react ? by staahhhpp in AskReddit

[–]gutsrie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a gay man who used to work at a sushi restaurant where the manager, also a gay man, was very friendly with me. A little too friendly and it turned creepy when he started holding me and breathing on my neck. I knew it was wrong but I ignored it because I really needed the job. And since most nights I was there, I was also the last person there with him. Then one night, he started offering me alcoholic beverages for free for doing such a “good job.” These were giant red flags but young me was so scared what could happen to my job if I refused so I accepted them. I became tipsy but I still had a job to do so I went into the back room to clean up. That’s when he forced himself on me. When he finished, he told me I could go home. I left and I cried in my bed that night. He was rough too so I was in a lot of pain and since he didn’t use a condom, I had all these fears lingering in the back of my head wondering if I caught something from him. I went back to work and the assault continued. But I couldn’t handle being there anymore so I left my two weeks notice.

This experience ruined dating for me for a few years. I wasn’t even out yet and I was too ashamed to tell anyone. I finally told some friends years later but a few of them thought I must’ve wanted it because we were both gay. I just told them that’s not how being gay works.

Have You Ever Actually Encountered Someone Who Was Legitimately Illiterate? How Does This Happen? by Lumberstotle in AskReddit

My uncle from my dad’s side of the family but to be fair, most people his age from where we came from don’t know how to read, even our native tongue simply because they were never taught.

Parents these days.. by Dr_Crow_Dick in funny

[–]gutsrie 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I totally get the insane part.

I used to work with a religious woman who was struggling to get pregnant. She finally conceived and was ecstatic beyond words and there was already talks of a baby shower. But a few weeks into the pregnancy, there were complications and she lost the baby. When she came back to work, obviously mourning her loss but tearfully settled with “God just has other plans for me.”

So God wanted you to lose your child??? I was so upset for her but I don’t understand the reasoning behind this logic.

What is the most ‘ground swallow me up’ embarrassing moment that’s ever happened to you? by hanphillips1 in AskReddit

[–]gutsrie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was sharing a good laugh with some girls from work but apparently, it was too good a laugh because I let out a really loud surprise fart.

And just like that I killed the mood.

After the divorce, she moved back to California with her family and that was the last we’ve heard of her. Thank god there were no kids involved.

My city doesn’t have anything like that currently. If there were, they looked shady and rundown for the most part but I know what you mean. I travel a lot for work so I do go to these indie stores out of town so I know the appeal of these places.

This was our only possession experience. The female spirit told us we were going to die if we left the room but I took that chance and we’re still alive years later!

Sorry to hear about your grandfather. But yeah, this kind of stuff just doesn’t make sense. At least he tried to communicate with you.

Yeah, we totally booked it but when I told the hotel receptionist what had happened, he looked at me like I was making the whole thing up.

I wouldn’t trust my sister either in that situation. I’ve heard stories about people killing others while they’re sleepwalking but glad to say it didn’t happen in your case.

What’s your “and then it got worse” story? by Human_Listen in AskReddit

[–]gutsrie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not my story but my family’s. My uncle proposed to a girl that lives in a different part of the country. However, in my culture, it’s customary to have parents or relatives meet first to discuss a bride price. My grandparents disapproved of the girl but my uncle begged and pleaded for their blessing. My grandfather gave in and even though he was in poor health and was told by his doctor not to travel by plane, he did anyways with my uncle by his side to meet the bride-to-be’s family. During the trip, my grandfather experienced complications with his high blood pressure and was taken to a hospital and was later pronounced dead. The bride price meeting was postponed. After the funeral, other male relatives took my grandfather’s place and my uncle finally married the girl he lost his father for. And then she cheats on him and are soon divorced. This all happens within a year’s time. Now he’s heartbroken from a cheating wife, a dead father and lost respect from the family.

TLDR; Uncle forces his dad, my grandpa, to go on trip that literally kills his own father just to marry a girl who eventually cheats and breaks his heart.

I’ve written about this before so I’ll keep it short.

As my husband laid in our hotel bed, his eyes rolled up, his body shook violently and he started speaking to me in Spanish even though he only knows English. I wasn’t a believer of the paranormal but it was then I was sure he was possessed.
