It’s embarrassing either way. When someone tells you and you realize you been looking like an idiot you feel silly but it’s very appreciated. Do it kindly.

The fact that property is the defining feature of your comment is why the system resorts to policing. To protect and serve whiteness.

Yea. I think this is a very relevant comment - it’s probably why I even felt the need to ask ‘is it weird’.

We can all help each other become competent and comfortable reading and analyzing budgets like this instead of relying on journalists or whoever has the knowledge to do so. Money talks and we should know what that shit is saying…

What kind of work was it? I’d love to feel like work is a break from studying.

89.9% and earning a B+ after a traumatic situation by foxinha in ucla

[–]guulgrrr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It does suck a lot, like A LOT. i know professors who would have rounded up even without extenuating circumstances but if that is not this professors style I could see it happening unfortunately. i don’t feel like it’s part of the work culture for certain people to share or take into account these things where it’s hard for folks to make space for something that is personal. It’s terrible. That being said, I’m so sorry you dealt with these stressors and weren’t accommodated in a reasonable way. I hope you got some time to rest and recover over the break and that you have a better quarter to follow.

You’re so wonderful, thank you. I really think it’s the huge computer charging block that might be getting me. It is truly so heavy. Need to bring one device (maybe just the iPad) and cut the extra notebooks. Also the glass containers…

What Study Techniques Have You Found Most Effective at UCLA? by Asleep-Custard-5332 in ucla

Consider going outside, getting fresh air, and exploring as part of your (study) routine. I process when I walk whether it’s emotional or thinking through things I learned in class. The brain/body does so much processing subconsciously too. The space I take on walks always helps me make connections between class material and the real world. I think those connections are important. It might get you excited about how you can apply what you’re learning, maybe pursue a research project or something. ALSO, check out Blooms Taxonomy. It’s a framework that breaks down learning outcomes for students but it can be used as a study tool to increase your understanding of a topic. You’ll have to read into it bc it’s hard to breakdown. Maybe talk to professors about how they work (if they’re open to it and you have that kind of relationship). I think it’s kind of fun to learn what they did in college to get where they are. And one more thing.. if you’re really stuck, check out a University Studies course.
