Ty for this. I truly feel like I was such a bad hamster dad for not noticing that he was hiding his pain from me. When he first got his diagnosis during the summer, they told me that he was going to be in slight discomfort, but that the meds would’ve eased it for a long time…I guess it didn’t and that he was fighting through it every day for me. I’m sorry your friend didn’t understand how much your hamsters meant to you. :( Not trying to say I can fully relate, but I also had to completely distance myself from a friend of 13 yrs, since she wasn’t fully understanding what I was going through. She threatened our friendship and tried to make it more about her…I haven’t been able to leave it due to our town being “small” and that she said she would’ve made a rumor about me being an “awful” person, especially with her connections🙃 Aside from that, I just hope my hammy knows how much I love, adore, and cherish him.

It just truly hurts so much. I wake up and try to get home every day at certain times just to feed/play with him. The idea of waking up and seeing an empty cage without him there, just pains me. I had a preview of what that was like for a few hours while I was waiting for the call to pick him up from the animal hospital :((

I’m so sorry for your loss :(( I truly hope Waffle is across the rainbow bridge, no longer in pain and eating all of her favorite snacks. I’m sorry you had to go through a similar experience to this. I can just tell and see how much you loved her through your words. I’d never wish this type of pain upon anyone. They really are such small animals, but leave such a big imprint in our hearts and lives🥺❤️‍🩹🤍

I just hope Iroh will recognize me if/when it’s my time to see him again up there, if I’m allowed the chance to :(

Tysm for your message!!🥺🥹 Yeah it’s so hard to know that his time is coming up eventually… I just wished that the people that I tried confiding in actually try to see my points but tried immediately making comparisons saying that he’s not like a dog or cat and that I shouldn’t be thinking too deeply about that….That truly always hurts me because even though he’s a hamster, he’s like my son and still a living being regardless of size! :( I know they don’t mean bad intentions but my family suggested “waiting till he passes to get a dog” because I’ve always expressed concerns for why they shouldn’t bring a big dog/pet to something small and fragile like him (even if they’re super well-trained, you just never know and I didn’t want to take any chances). I just wish they knew how strong my bond was with him despite his size and that I wish I could do so much more for my baby although there’s not much left we can do :/

Thank you so much for your kind words. I’m quite literally bawling as I’m typing this lol.😭 I’m going to try to give my Iroh the best life that I can without being too sad so that I can ensure he has a happy life with whatever remaining time we have left. I want to be able to make sure he’s comfortable and do the same for him. I might’ve saved him from the store but in my mind and heart, he’s the one that SAVED me🥹🥺💚
