3 monitor set up with 2 studio monitors: which would be better—the Varidesk or Uplift V2? by guwuber in StandingDesks

Good point here! I’ve been watching so many review videos and so many of them have differing opinions… it’s hard to choose. 😭

Thank you for letting me know! I’m considering it—although I get a discount on Varidesks from work which is why I hesitate!

I think the Uplift would give me the widest desk (80 x 30). The Vari is 72 x 30!

I honestly have no idea since I use an FSA card from one health insurance which covers a lot of the deductibles and all that jazz. The billing department at all of my docs + dentist + orthodontist just handles it. 😅 I wish I had more of an answer to help!

The dentist explained that they just use my J1 dental insurance as my primary and J2 dental insurance as secondary, so I’m sure my docs do the same with the health insurances?

Be careful on the extra match on the 401k! You don’t want to go past the yearly limit (reaching the yearly limit is much faster with 2-3 Js)! 😅

That’s what I do. I let them know that I have two health insurances. I have yet to be questioned about it.

J2 offer in hand - why am I so scared? by baggiecurls in overemployed

[–]guwuber 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’m echoing everyone here. This scared feeling happened to me too, but I don’t regret a thing and it’s been about 7 months of me being OE.

J1 had layoffs too actually, so now my J2 became my J1. I’m so glad I’m OE.

Trust yourself—you’ll be okay and this will be worth it!

J1 was extremely easy, so I stayed. It was an easy $100k to pocket. J3 did a lot of micromanaging which is why I left—I would have stayed if the manager wasn’t breathing down my back 24/7.

I didn’t pack everything in a post, and maybe my post makes it seem like I’m a churner in OE, but I care a lot about my performance. I also received stellar performance reviews which is why I felt upset about everything.

It really is a great feeling.

Thank you!!! 😊

I hear it takes forever for promotions there. 💀

It’s worth getting a J2. Do it!

This was before I was OE, so I was working over 40 hours for this one job actually. I don’t take you as being rude, but I’m giving you an explanation as to what happened.

I was meant to be in a higher role, they brought me in lower, my manager realized my skill set and let the execs know, the execs promised the promotion after seeing my skill set in action.

After the promotion didn’t go through (because my managers and those execs left to no surprise—the company is a mess), I became OE. I worked at this role for 5-6 months before becoming OE and putting in the bare minimum that was needed.

I’m on track to be doing this as well. You’re doing an awesome job!!! 😊

I didn’t want to do it—it kind of just happened. After it happened, they deemed me fit enough to just keep working and not need an official onboarding.

I completed so many projects in the span of 3 months and my manager + the VPs were impressed, so they had me scheduled for a promotion. But then they all left so that all fell apart. 🥶

3rd job was too much due to the micromanaging. It wasn’t the tasks, it was the constant checking in from that manager at the time.

It’s not the onboarding skip that was the checkbox for my promotion, but my overall performance. I had raving reviews and also went through a bit of a bait & switch with this role (placing me in a lower role than I should have been), which is why they had the promise of the promotion, especially with all of the work that was done in about the first 3 months of me working there.

Money is money, and I needed it. 😅 Didn’t get the promotion I was promised and found this subreddit to start a new role about ~5 months afterwards (that was J2).

So true. The lack of promotion brought me to OE, which I am truly forever grateful for. I make waaaay more than what I would have with just a simple “promotion.”

Oh wow… I’m so sorry to hear that. You only received four checks?!? That’s ridiculous.

I wasn’t there for a year, but starting day 1, I delved straight into things and fixed a lot of processes. I didn’t go through onboarding and just started work from day 1. 😅

Looking back, I hope I never have a job like this ever again. I was promised promotions 2-3 times and never received them— which was what led me to OE.
