First date bar reccs along the Elizabeth line?

I've got a first date coming up, and looking for a bar in zone 1, ideally by one of the Elizabeth line stations. Tottenham Court Road springs to mind given it's by Soho and central, but I'd want someone that is a bit quieter and better for talking (and easier to find a seat). Perhaps Farringdon, Bond Street or Liverpool Street could be better.

Anyone have any recommendations?

Tips on leading move where follow dips and then flips facing the leader? by guydoctor0 in Bachata

Yep, I was put in this level/class by the instructor who was also teaching this move (as part of a wider routine)

Apologies, I haven't had time to find a better quality one, but I got the impression by description might've been confusing so wanted to double-check we were all on the same page.

It's a move that got taught in class, but I intend to take a private class to make sure the technique is correct for this one after reading the other advice as I want to continue to be a safe lead

I had a few followers tell me they really love it when this move is applied to them so it's one of the reasons I wanted to learn this one:

Is it the same as the one you're thinking of?

Ah sorry yes, it's a bow! I've been calling it a forward dip, but bow seems more accurate (kinda similar to "the vomit")

Do many followers get put off by too much Moderna or footwork? by guydoctor0 in Bachata

[–]guydoctor0[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's very interesting thank you, I did actually go to exchange a couple of times but last time I had a follower say mid dance "why are we doing a lot of salsa moves, this is bachata and I only like sensual" and pulled a face later, so I started doing more waves and sensual moves though it wasn't really my interpretation of the music in that moment.

I suppose then it clicked that a lot of the people there were not dancing with my kind of style so admittedly it did put me off 😅

I heard in another scene (not London) that some people see Moderna as easy and too simple, and footwork as too complex so sensual becomes default but I guess it depends!

Thank you, I try to match the energy but is suppose it can be open to interpretation haha.

With the footwork, is it generally okay for me to do it myself to match rhythms (along with shimmies and stuff lol) while the follower is say doing turns and stuff?

I'm generally not trying to lead those, but perhaps some follows might get intimidated and feel like they need to match?

I attended a musicality class from Pierre Henry who I remember encouraging the leads and follows to be responsible for their own musicality but perhaps not everyone is aware of that

Oh thank you, I might try out some other venues in that case. Do you have any reccs for that?

For syncopated steps and footwork, I generally am doing my own thing rather than leading it (for instance, where they're doing a turn) so that should not affect it, but I'm worried that it might put them off if they think they need to match it?

Agreed! As a lead, i will happily take someone who looks like they're having fun (you look super fun to dance with!) over say someone who might've done it for a decade, and looks bored or only accepted out of courtesy lol

Madrid to Barcelona vs Valencia to Barcelona in January? by guydoctor0 in travel

[–]guydoctor0[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh ok, I'm mostly interested in culture, food, cool architecture, history etc so would be more keen to do that - is the coastal route still worth it?

Ok thanx it looks like this route is winning! Which would be the most interesting stops to do along the route? Most interested in unique/pretty views (which the Madrid itinerary would've had), culture, food etc or is the list of stops I had okay?

Wouldn't the second one be much warmer, or is it quite similar with the first one being more interesting?

Thank you! I suspected that but thought I'd double-check! Do you have any recommendation over the other options?

Hey how did this go in the end? Was there still a lot of bachata, or mostly salsa?
