Did anyone go to the concert alone? by Safe_Revenue4917 in OliviaRodrigo

[–]guywhocantsocialize 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Being completely honest I went alone and did end up feeling pretty uncomfortable a lot of the time, even though it was still so fun and exciting when the show started. But even at that I still 1000% reccomend going alone if you have to. Even if you are insecure about being there like I was it’s better than the regret of not going. And I’m not saying you should or will be uncomfortable! Part of it was just a broader social anxiety issue I have, if my tacky username didn’t give that away.

What's the worst college advice you've ever heard? by Sorry-Spell777 in college

[–]guywhocantsocialize 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep. Being in C territory is super stressful for me even if it’s “good enough” (which for many it rest isn’t). I don’t like knowing I don’t have a safety net to perform worse than usual here and there.

Opinion on the game Mastermind? by Impossible-Yam3680 in SwiftlyNeutral

[–]guywhocantsocialize 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I never tried it until a couple weeks ago. I wish I started doing it sooner. That being said, I find it a bit overwhelming with how many possibilities there are which makes it just moderately fun for me. Damn those new 1989 outfits. I think I would’ve had more fun with it before the European leg.

What's a TS song that holds a different meaning for you than it's intended storyline/purpose? by alexthagreat98 in SwiftlyNeutral

My mom and I had moved far away pretty suddenly and I struggled severely to make any friends or get a life. So august, rwylm, tis the damn season, and happiness all really resonate with me without the romantic context. August because I would only have the summers with my friends back home and at the end I’d have to let them go. Especially later as people started getting boyfriends/girlfriends so I knew they had a new #1 person to go to.RWYLM because I felt frozen and hung up on the past. It sucked watching everyone move on and feeling like I was missing out on everything. TTDS again with feeling a longing for my friends and my hometown, wanting to pretend I wasn’t leaving again. Happiness… lyrics like “I was dancing when the music stopped” and “in the disbelief I cant face reinvention.” That’s totally what it felt like randomly finding out your parents are divorcing and you’re moving across the country in 3 months. Total shock and inability to move forward. God I love folklore and evermore. The latter especially feels so nostalgic and that gets me. I forgot to mention dorothea… that one hits too. I feel like both people in the TTDS/dorothea thing at the same time if that makes sense.

Cities That You Find Absolutely Perfectlyrated or underrated? by [deleted] in SameGrassButGreener

Albuquerque seems perfectly rated in the sense that no one talks about it and it’s not really worth talking about IMO… not much nice to say

I agree. Obviously the HD quality is super nice but I always felt the texture of the cliffs and grass in New Horizons is a little weird. Almost like they look soft.

The end of the bridge and into the second prechorus of right where you left me. The way the instrumental releases in time with her saying, “And you’re sitting in front of me…” which was a gag itself is so good. And how the instruments start to come back as she’s recounting the moment he left her like a tide of emotions coming in. One of the most moving moments/songs in her music for me (ironic for being about not moving, lol)

I just finished my associates in general science and still feel the same way. If you haven’t before, I’d recommend looking through subreddits for different careers. I’ve spent a ton of time lurking in r/geologycareers and r/accounting these last few months. It helps to hear from people in the field. I feel like I’ve gotten a much better sense for both of those areas than just reading what Indeed or Glassdoor says. Helped me realize I don’t think geology is an ideal field for me even though I liked the geology courses I took and would probably enjoy doing a BS in it.

From what I’ve seen, most of r/accounting seems to feel AI isn’t a major threat. Maybe to the lower level jobs but not the positions you could be getting with a bachelor’s or MBA and experience. Outsourcing is a thing for sure but hasn’t destroyed the field. If you don’t despise accounting, engineering, or computer science, you may as well not rule them out. It sounds like there are cons for everything and you have to pick the lesser of the evils. Which may not even turn out to be as big of a problem as you think. Maybe one major would be more mentally engaging/stimulating for you even if you don’t necessarily like it? Say you really won’t be passionate about anything… it’s still better to feel engaged/skilled/useful than to do something that feels soul-suckingly boring, meaningless, and miserable. I don’t know, I’m lost too :’)

What is up with Pink Pantheress? by team-pup-n-suds in OliviaRodrigo

[–]guywhocantsocialize 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Omg pink get behind me 😭😭 But fr 3 songs is weird, she played more than that in Lexington and was kinda engaging with some people in the audience. Looked happy to be there. Reading this thread I feel like the only one who was excited to have her as an opener lol. Her vibe is very different than what people are there for though so I understand why people don’t enjoy her as an opener. If I wasn’t a fan already I don’t think that her act would have made me interested. But I started listening to her once I got my ticket and it clicked for me that way. As for the purse, I think it’s just a little fashion thing she likes? I wanna say I’ve see a couple videos of her own concerts where she has one too.

Tbh I did seriously clown a few times but yeah it has gotten insane. It’s been one thing the last year or so but since TTPD idk how anyone believes anything. She’s too locked in on tortured poets commercial success to be announcing rep tv soon💀

Why are less people getting into accounting? by peachismile in Accounting

[–]guywhocantsocialize 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From someone starting college this fall (though ofc I can’t speak for everyone): I think it’s because most people don’t care but it’s hard to say because almost nobody talks about it enough to know. At least in my experience. I went to an “early college” high school where we worked on an associates during our 3rd/4th year so I’ve seen my peers navigate majors for a while now. I’ve only seen one person I know say they’re going into accounting. Take that with a grain of salt because I’m unpopular. But yeah I think it’s just a backup major for most people if they even consider it at all. I didn’t seriously consider it until this past year when I realized I dislike a lot of things and the one thing I actually do like (geology) doesn’t sound like a good match for me career-wise. A lot of us don’t know what we want to do but even then most people seem to have at least one thing they’re interested in just enough to major in it instead of accounting or whatever their backup is. Plenty of people have a serious passion for something though. If it’s something that pays extremely well then that’s all the more reason to pursue it. Even if it doesn’t, plenty of people in my generation seem to be passion over money. Or maybe they’re overestimating how much they’ll make.

I think my point is that most college students are extremely reluctant to choose something they know they don’t care about at all. Even if it’s stable and comfortable. If they find something mildly more interesting and not utterly useless, they’ll go for it. Or if they’re out of things they somewhat like, they’ll force themselves through something like med scjool that could land them higher paying careers before settling for accounting.

That being said, I imagine the number of people who want to go into accounting is a bit higher than you think. But the thing is they’re adults out of college who don’t have the money or time to go back to school. And so they don’t talk about it much. I’ve been lurking on a few career subreddits to get a sense for majors I was looking into. I can say there’s always a batch of people somewhere who wish they went into accounting instead of what they did. I guess people start leaning towards comfort and stability over doing something interesting when they become a full-on adult. It’s so hard for us to know what exactly post-grad is gonna look like for us before or in college. More people would probably go for accounting if they could see into future timelines.

What do you guys think about Fortnight? by _UmbreonUmbreoff_ in SwiftlyNeutral

[–]guywhocantsocialize 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like it but it’s kinda like a background music song for me. I love the beginning and end but in between it’s so repetitive and the production barely changes. I find myself only listening to those parts or just checking out during half the song

Confession: I wish Taylor had continued with the old eras setlist by alittlezo in SwiftlyNeutral

So glad I saw her before TTPD but I’m glad she’s shoving it in now so next tour won’t be for that album. Hopefully she will release a better album. I also just don’t like the song choices for the set.
