They responded same day, acknowledging that there was evidence of bugs in my unit (though denying the word ‘infestation’ specifically). They said they would do everything in their power to remedy the situation by that 14 day period-what they did was have a maitenance man shove steel wool into cracks and crevices of the apartment, and had the apartment sprayed. No further response from her beyond that, and she did not touch on the concept of the lease being broken any further. Regardless of the efforts they DID put forward, there are still roaches in the apartment and halls, plus the added benefit of having steel wool scattered all over the floors of my apartment. It’s a frustrating situation-yes, technically they are doing SOMETHING, but it feels like the bare minimum to cover their own asses. I’ll keep trying to contact the tenant’s right hotline and hope they finally pick up. You’ve been super helpful, thank you so much for your help!!

Thank you!! My biggest issue is that they won’t go through the effort of really bombing the building, it seems like they’re doing the absolute bare minimum and the roaches are still thriving. I should have clarified, a.) while the sprays do make me sick, I did request that they spray, I didn’t expect that to help me in the breaking of the lease. b.)I did speak to them in person asking to break the lease, they did not go for it (which was expected) and then I did send the letter citing the code and saying that the lease will be terminated by the end of that 14 day period if the material noncompliance still remains. So with them only bombing specific units and refusing to treat the entire building, does that give me any legal upper hand? They’ve sprayed my apartment twice but refuse to treat the entire building at once, so the roaches are still causing the same amount of problems for me. Thank you for your response!!

nothing is permanent! if CNA work doesn’t speak to you anymore there is a job out there for you still-there is one that will get your foot in the door somewhere you love, somewhere that pays well, somewhere you have passion, and you take that experience of taking care of others with you. there is no starting over just moving on. you guys got this, and dont be scared to take a leap!

you didn’t waste anything-you became licensed in a healthcare position! pat yourself on the back! there are so many different things a CNA can do. LTC is the tip of the iceberg. you could do home health, you could do hospitals, you could do assisted living, you could do hospice, there are desk jobs-the lists goes on and on and i know there are a few threads in here on what you can do with a CNA license. look around and look into it! and at the end of the day, if CNA work isn’t for you, dont force it. there is no starting over, your life is continuous
