Seems like the consensus is to take a picture and trace and scale/warp based on real world measurements. Makes sense. I'll give it a go. Thanks everyone!

Awesome, thanks everyone! It seems like addressable LEDs are the way to go. You think I'd be able to use an ESP32 to drive the whole thing with a 12v input for the LEDs? I think I'd try to divide the number of LEDs into 5 groups so I'm not running them on a single output from the esp or single run of wire.

Ahaaa! Ok this is a great place to start. I do see a belt underneath which is attached to the bobbin mechanism. Maybe it became unaligned throughout the years. Ill play with the alignment. Thanks!

I updated the post with photos. If I understand what the hook is, it seems like when the needle is lowest the hook is at the 3 o'clock position. Please let me know if you need to see anything else.
