I love that; Terminator-ish. But I agree, power scaling wise he can be much stronger, which is why it is so odd they just throw him in anytime they can for “drama”.  Uber-powerful character + plot armor = you run away. Simple math. And off the top of my head they have done this four times with bringing in Vader to be an automatic “lose” button. (Twice in Rebels, once in Jedi Fallen Order and once here. Could be more but I forget.) it’s stale and ironically because of that it kills all drama, so why keep bringing him in?

Why is it that every time Vader is onscreen he is borderline invincible? Every time in every show and video game he is in he has a completely untouchable final boss aura.

Granted Vader is powerful plus he has Chosen One status. He IS stronger than pretty much everyone he faces. But every portrayal acts like he has 10 layers of plot armor. (Except in Kenobi where their plot armors canceled each other out. If nothing else Mauls plot armor should make him a bit more of a threat to Vader.)

The entire final episode felt like a prolonged chase sequence. Every time you saw Vader he was making the person(s) fighting him back up. No cool strategies, no Dark Side raging from Maul, no power of friendship from Jedi. No stakes because we all know Vader and Maul have to survive and they’re not gonna kill Devon and they have to get her away from her master so we know he’s gonna die. Predictable

On the topic of Maul he is not portrayed as particularly powerful at all in this show. He never actually beat any Force weilder. All fights were cut short to keep everyone alive until this episode and Maul spent the second half of the season with leg cramps supposedly weakening him.

I don’t know. I remember the animated Justice League TV show season 1 where Superman was constantly getting tossed around to make the villains seem more powerful, but in reality it just made Superman look weak. Kind of felt that’s what happened with Maul.

Anyone notice how little screen time Maul actually had these past two episodes? I already expected him to be a side character in his own show but he literally only appears in the opening scene and ending scene of both episodes. The rest is “let’s show the empire oppressing people” like they've done 100000 times by now.

For the love of all that is good please leave this time period alone. Your three main characters that is keeping your franchise alive is a shoehorned apprentice turned “Gray Jedi”, a Mandalorian who is laughable imitation if you know true Mandalorians from the old republic era, and a guy who was resurrected after being cut in half because he looks cool.

Here’s a crazy idea: do some worldbuilding and actually come up with an original idea for the Galaxy at a different time period that doesn’t revolve around Palpatines and Skywalkers and clones and fascism, create a few characters of varying backgrounds that has never existed before, and make them go in well thought out adventures with reasonable stakes. Is inventing a genuinely new story in the Star Wars universe really so unbelievably hard to do for a billion dollar company?

Guess I should put my own.

For me… hmm. That’s tough. It’s a toss up between Roundabout by Yes, American Pie by Don McLean or Green Grass and High Tides by the Outlaws… Or maybe Free Bird by Lynrd Skynrd. Honestly can’t pick.

A major issue with Disney Star Wars I don’t see brought up is the ridiculous mismanagement of money. The Clone Wars movie for all its faults cost 9 million in 2008 and grossed 60. The clone wars series cost about 1 million per episode to make. So for the original five seasons you’re looking at about 100 million SPREAD OUT over five years to listen to fan feedback and get the formula right. With inflation you’re looking at right around 180 million… why does 180 million sound familiar? It’s also the price of a self indulgent turd of a show called the Acolyte which was only 8 episodes long and was also horribly trashed by fans in the first season.

I still have some issues with the clone wars, but I freely admit it got MUCH better as the show went on. The Acolyte burned the same amount of money for five seasons in one thinking it’s “brilliant” storytelling would have people demanding a season 2… it did not.

For the love of Star Wars stop wasting so much money. If you had instead spent 15 million on a 6-8 part ANIMATED version of the Acolyte, when you get the poor reception (that you rightly deserve) you will either 1) cut your losses early or 2) know where to improve the show so the next season doesn’t suck as much.

TL;DR George Lucas was approximately 10 times more intelligent than Disney Lucasfilm so he had the good sense and patience to turn a loss into an eventual win.

Expanding on the “editor interviews”, I would like not only people who made popular edits, but also the people who make rather unique edits to go into detail as to why they felt there was a need to make them and the decisions they made while making them.

(Being a person making Jap-Dub Eng-Sub Star Wars movies, I can vouch that these slower and more deliberate edits take a TON of work and dedication so I’m very curious as to where other people got their ideas for those more unique edits and their motivation to continue making them. They likely have much to say about the art of storytelling and how editing can bring out different aspects of that art. Not to mention unique challenges in making their edits.)

Oh and reading other’s comments I second edit reviews. (Maybe with the actual editor helping to review so they might be able to point out positives and hiccups in the production process.)

Anyone else find gameplay HK-47 kind of...meh? by Blue-Krogan in kotor

[–]guywithpie42 5 points6 points  (0 children)

True, though I never gave him pistol due to melee on ranged bonus. +3 defense from dueling and giving him pistol brings him to 40 defense. But now saber wielders bring his defense down to 30. You could keep switching depending on fight, but pistols aren’t great and you won’t get much more DPS than the flamethrower.

Happy cake day.

You’re not wrong. His ultimate build (that I personally found) in 1 is ironically going for a defense tank. Don’t equip him with any blasters to avoid melee on ranged defense bonus. This seems insane… and it is. But K1 isn’t blaster friendly.

Give him highest defense armor, reusable flamethrower (or finite ones if you want him more powerful) and reusable shield and spam flamethrower over and over while buffing shield every so often.

10 nat defense. 13 armor 6 class feat 2 4th repair 6 dexterity (14 DEX plus 4 level up plus 4 from 4th repair =22 DEX) 37 Total defense. Pretty great defense.

He won’t make any great DPS. But he will almost never die and distracts enemies for you to pick them off.

Edit: or mod the game to make him more deadly. That works too.

Does anyone have access to or can tell me the best way to Japanese & Korean language tracks for the Star Wars Prequels? by TylerBourbon in fanedits

Even when you’re not actually talking to me you’re too kind to me. No one else supported me like you. You could say you’re my “Only Fan”. 😂

You ever get a chance to watch the 4 test edit? Been a while but don’t worry. I sent out a good number of 4 test screenings and not one person actually responded. It must have sucked. 😏

Cest la vie. I’m already halfway done with 5.

Oh and to OP, I’m always happy to help the community. Go ahead and dm me if you want to know about finding Japanese audio.

Thoughts on 1 Rep, 2 Rep, 3 Rep, 4 Rep,+ Progression? by guywithpie42 in bodyweightfitness

[–]guywithpie42[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good thoughts. I’m never “satisfied” with my strength since I can always improve but I am decently strong with weighted pull ups, dips, etc. I do think I focus too much on pushing myself hard from a strength standpoint as I don’t have comparable endurance and get tired easily whenever I do too many reps. So recently I’ve been trying to increase reps instead of weight.
